Delica 4 Blue FRN, K390 Spyder, experienced people being outdoors prefer knives that do not need sharpening in the field. For discerning users, Spyderco has introduced a folder version with a K390 steel blade. Superb E.D.C. with injection-molded liners in the elite blue color reserved for knives with a K390 MICROCLEAN steel blade.
The fourth-generation Delica lightweight folder with a full flat grind. This grind has reduced weight and improved cutting properties. Reinforced fully demountable construction joined by torx screws, makes cleaning and adjustments of the folder easier. Four-plane clip attachment. With improved ergonomics and design, the knife has gained in rigidity, functionality and aesthetics. Available with facings in black, blue, brown, gray, orange, purple, green.
In 1990, Spyderco launched two models of knives: the Endura and Delica, creating demand for lightweight one-handed opening folders at an affordable price. These products have become bestsellers. Thanks to their small size and low weight, they are an excellent choice as everyday EDC knives.
K390 MICROCLEAN® - state-of-the-art powdered cold working tool steel. Hardened in the 60-66 HRC range. Advanced alloy composition with high vanadium, tungsten and cobalt content provides strength and excellent sharpness retention. Manufactured in the Austrian smelter Böhler-Uddeholm.
Blade - with Clip Point profile made of K390 MICROCLEAN powder steel, hardened between 59-61 HRC. The serrated Spyder Edge blade is brought out with a Full Flat Grind to reduce the weight of the knife, improving cutting properties. The round SpyderHole cutout makes it easier to open the blade. Notched section of the blade's back, ramp (jimping / crosshatching) positions the thumb, gives solid support and makes it easier to operate the folder. Back-Lock blade lock with additional Boye Detent cutout, preventing accidental release of the lock when gripping the knife firmly.
Spyder Edge - (Spyderco patent) serrated blade usually has a few millimeters of smooth blade on the tip side. The Spyder blade consists of alternating one large and two small teeth, the so-called two-step. This pattern increases the length of the cutting edge by up to 24% compared to a straight blade. Ideal for cutting, inflicting deep wounds, cutting through hard materials including bone.
Handle - in the elite blue color reserved for knives with a K390 MICROCLEAN steel blade. Non-slip bi-directional textured wraps (Bi-Directional Texturing) and notched handle ridges (Spine Jimping) strengthen the grip even with wet hands. Made of FRN (Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon), a fiberglass-reinforced nylon plastic. Metal hourglass clip with 4-way (up/down, right/left) 4-way clip positions. In the back of the handle a hole (lanyard hole) for a cord.
Skeleton - steel plates with cut-out holes, to which the liners are attached. This provides high strength and stiffness with low weight of the knife. Reinforced fully demountable structure connected by torx screws. Phosphor bronze washers make it easier to open and close the pocket knife.
