How to use handheld gas throwers:

1. Do not keep the container in hard-to-reach places (woman's purse, backpack, etc.).

2. When defending ourselves, try to maintain the so-called safe distance (no possibility of attacker(s) hitting us).

3. Grasp the gas container with the whole hand, point the nozzle towards the attacker at chest or face level. Push the thumb under the flap securing the button, then press the button until it is done.

4. When spraying the paralyzing substance, remember not to approach the attacker(s) (you can get into the vapors of the incapacitating substance), correct the direction of the gas jet in order to effectively hit the attacker, the effective range of the irritating substance depends on the place where you are and the weather conditions (rain, contrary wind).

5. Always purchase a new gas container after use regardless of the amount of remaining irritant in the container.

6. It is recommended that the gas thrower we will use has a label in Polish with information on how to proceed in case of contact with the gas and its composition. This is important in a situation where we have to prove that during the defense we acted in accordance with applicable regulations and that the product does not have substances prohibited by Polish law.

When defending, there are several factors to consider which, determine a more effective defense:
1. We act under stress and so our defenses are often chaotic and some of the substance may be used ineffectively.
2. We never know how many attackers there will be so a larger container capacity is a greater guarantee of effective defense.
