Q Ball Black G10, Satin folding knife designed by Eric Glesser that reflects the style of his iconic designs such as the Dodo and Scorpius. It combines an unconventional approach to the ergonomics of a compact, easy-to-carry knife with a blade that cuts with impressive power. Blade made of Japanese VG-10 steel, with a Wharncliffe blade equipped with Ball Bearing Lock™ mechanism! Manufactured for Spyderco in Seki City, Japan.
VG-10 - a grade of tool-grade stainless alloy steel created in Japan specifically for making premium blades and knives. The steel's recipe was created by Takefu Special Steel co. Ltd, whose headquarters are located in Takefu, Fukui Prefecture. Initially used in the production of kitchen knives, it quickly found use as an excellent material for utility blades. Due to import restrictions, almost all knives made of VG-10 steel are produced in Seki, Japan.
Ball Bearing-Lock, one of the strongest blade locking mechanisms. Hardened ball bearing housed in a black polymer basket in the open position pressed against the blade by a spring. Made in USA.
Blade - with Wharncliffe profile with extremely sharp tip. Perfectly straight cutting edge provides exceptional cutting performance with full force, transferring power to the blade tip, guaranteeing better point strength. Plain blade is derived with a weight-reducing Full Flat Grind. Enlarged 14mm round SpyderHole cutout (Spyderco patent) to open the knife. Index Finger Choil (notched profiled undercut for the index finger between the Handle and the cutting edge), makes it easier to operate the knife.
Handle - profiled, covered with non-slip textured grips made of durable, temperature- and chemical-resistant G-10 composite. Handle, despite its compact size, provides full grip and excellent control, with four fingers as in full-size folders. The folder is equipped with a double-sided (left/right) low-profile deep-pocket wire clip, made of molded wire, allowing to carry the knife in tip-up position.
