CTS BD1N - High carbon, high chromium, martensitic nitride steel, provides an excellent balance of hardness, edge retention and corrosion resistance. Designed as an improvement or evolution (nitrogen addition) of the stainless steel used in knife making, CTS-BD1. CTS-BD1N has a higher working hardness compared to CTS-BD1 steel, up to 63 HRC. Manufactured by Carpenter Technology Corporation.
Compression-Lock - (similar to Liner-Lock) patented by Spyderco (made in USA) head locking mechanism. Extremely durable, provides extreme strength and ease of use. Located on the back of the handle, protects the knife from unintentional closing. When releasing the lock your fingers are not in the way of the folding head.
Blade - laser cut with a modified Clip Point profile, thickness 3.7 mm. Plain blade with Full Flat Grind for increased cutting ability and reduced weight. Enlarged 14mm round SpyderHole (Spyderco patent) for opening the knife even when gloved. Notched thumb rest, ramp (spine jimping) and (finger choil jimping), notched index finger rest between handle and cutting edge make working with the knife easier.
Handle - made of FRN (Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon) material, features Bi-Directional Texturing for excellent grip, even with greasy or wet hands. The ultralight construction of the handle linings and the open-backed design reduce weight by nearly 30 percent compared to a G-10 handle folder. The wire, screw-on clip (left/right) allows the knife to be carried in the tip-down position.
