The Spyderco Byrd Harrier 2 Stainless Plain, a knife that blurs the distinction between the Cara Cara 2 and Meadowlark 2 folders, is many users' ideal choice of cutting tool for everyday carry. It offers the proven features of each while locating itself in the perfect "in between" size.
8Cr13MoV - An easy to sharpen, stainless knife steel equivalent to Japanese AUS-8 steel, the high 13.0% chromium and average 0.8% carbon content provides excellent corrosion resistance. The presence of 1.0% silicon, 0.3% molybdenum increase the steel strength and wear resistance. 8Cr13MoV is characterized by high hardness in the range of 57-62 HRC.
Blade - Drop Point derived Full Flat Grind provides optimum cutting edge geometry with Low-Friction. Finger choil jimping, an arched index finger undercut between the handle and the cutting edge, and a notched thumb ramp that increases the support hump make the knife easier to use. Comet-shaped cutout for quick opening of the blade. Solid Back-Lock with additional Boye Detent design cut-out to prevent accidental release of the lock when the knife is firmly gripped.
Handle - finished with beveled stainless steel facings with smoothly ground pins disappearing in a beautiful satin finish. Contoured covers provide a comfortable, secure grip even with wet hands. Hourglass clip in polished steel with 4-way clip positions (up/down, right/left). Lanyard hole in back of handle for cord.
