Storm Black G10, Black DLC, designed by a veteran of missions in the Middle East, features a clip point blade made of Böhler N690 stainless steel , hardened to 57-60 HRC. The blade 'sflat grind and false blade on the Blade's back provide excellent cutting and piercing properties while maintaining high strength. The blade, in order to increase corrosion resistance and avoid glare, is coated with black DLC (Diamond Like Carbon). The back of the blade features a notched thumb ramp.
N690 - cobalt-rich 1.65% (Co) corrosion-resistant, high-carbon 1.07% (C) martensitic chromium steel 17.30% (Cr) with molybdenum 1.10% (Mo), vanadium 0.10% (V). Developed to provide better wear resistance compared to the original Böhler N690 steel , but with higher cobalt (Co) content in its composition. It features exceptionally high corrosion resistance and long edge retention. One of the best tool steels in the world today. Hardened in the 58-61 HRC range . Manufactured by Böhler Edelstahl in Kapfenberg, Austria.
DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) durability of the blade surface is enhanced with a matte black nanocomposite coating, which exhibits unique properties such as exceptional hardness and low friction, as well as excellent corrosion protection. It is one of the most resistant coatings to scratches and abrasion that are used in the industry, including the knife industry.
Blade - wide, Clip Point type , coated with black DLC coating . The solid thickness of the blade combined with the Flat Grind gives excellent cutting edge geometry and extreme cutting performance while the long false blade on the back increases piercing ability. The lower guard protects your fingers from slipping on the blade. To maintain full control of the blade, there is an upper jimping, notched thumb rest on the back of the wedge. Jimping can also be found on the throat, works well for precision gripping.
Handle - grips made of G10 composite , practically indestructible plastic, insensitive to weather conditions, resistant to chemicals and mechanical damage. Chamfered edges of the covers eliminate sharp edges and finger recesses improve grip security. The tango section exposed at the back of the Handle can be used as an improvised glass breaker, and includes a lanyard hole, hole for a safety line.
Sheath - made of Cordura 500, symmetrically designed (it does not matter which side you insert the knife). Pass-through holes to take advantage of multiple options for attaching the knife, to the equipment or to the user (fits the M.O.L.L.E. standard ).
