Torino; innovation and inspiration come together in this remarkable E.D.C. knife. Folder integrates a state-of-the-art PTC blade, ceramic ball bearings, ergonomic handle design, titanium clip and Recoil Lock mechanism. Sandrin Knives, a brand of Turmond S.P.A. of Italy, has been manufacturing high-end industrial components made from tungsten carbide since 1969.
PTC (Polyhedral Tungsten Carbide), a flexible type of tungsten carbide that outperforms steel in edge durability. Thanks to a new technology called StaySharp™, it is possible to produce blades with a hardness of 71HRC, which translates into incredibly long edge retention. Made with StaySharp Technology™ the blades remain flexible and are not brittle. Thanks to the unique properties of carbide, they maintain a clean, sharp cutting edge longer than traditional steel blades. These properties make this material ideal for knife heads. And with an exceptional hardness of 71 HRC, simply put, they are the hardest and most durable blades ever made.
Blade - modified Sheepfoot. A novelty is the raw carbide finish of the blade - its striking appearance was achieved by PTC grinding with fine diamonds. Unlike a steel blade, the Torino's blade is completely rust resistant, making it suitable for both fresh and salt water use. The thumb ramp features carefully crafted grooves, while the rest of the back and finger choil have comfortable chamfered edges. Ceramic ball bearings are responsible for the smooth, seamless operation of the blade's opening mechanism, which can be opened with a double-sided thumb stud.
Recoil Lock - an innovative blade lock system, designed by respected knifemaker and designer, Snecx Tan. Two-way lock secures the blade in the open position. Closing the knife is done by moving the backspacer backwards, which eliminates accidental unlocking of the blade.
Handle - black handle made of beautiful Carbon Fiber (material created by combining compressed carbon fiber with synthetic resin) facilitates quick draw. Slightly rough surface of the cover provides more secure grip. Two-position left/right PVD-coated titanium clip allows knife to be carried in tip-up position. The clip features a series of mathematically designed 5 circles cut to reflect the Fibonacci sequence, a trademark of the Sandrin Knives brand.
