8Cr13MoV - an easy-to-sharpen stainless knife steel, equivalent to Japanese AUS-8 steel. A high content of 13.0% chromium (Cr) and an average of 0.8% carbon (C) provide excellent corrosion resistance, while the addition of the alloying elements molybdenum 0.30% (Mo), vanadium 0.25% (V) and nickel 0.20% (Ni) increase the steel's strength and wear resistance. 8Cr13MoV has a high hardness in the 57-62 HRC range.
Blade - with a wide curved Leaf Shaped profile, 3.1 mm thick provides excellent cutting edge geometry with low friction. The cutting edge is derived with a Full Flat Grind. The Plain Smooth blade extends along the entire length of the blade for powerful cuts. The blade is made of well-sharpened 8Cr13MoV stainless steel (equivalent to Japanese AUS-8 steel) finished with an elegant Satin finish. Careful placement on the blade of the enlarged 14mm circular SpyderHole cutout (Spyderco patent) positions the hand for intuitive opening of the blade and at the same time increases the hump of spine jimping thumb support. The blade locks with a Liner-Lock, Michael Walker jimped liner.
Handle - molded in black. Bi-Directional Texturing non-slip facings strengthen the grip, even with wet hands. Made of FRN (Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon), a fiberglass-reinforced nylon plastic. Metal hourglass clip with 4-way (up/down, right/left) 4-way clip positions. In the back of the handle lanyard hole, a hole for a cord.
