VG-10 - a grade of stainless tool alloy steel created in Japan specifically for the manufacture of premium blades and knives. The steel recipe was created by Takefu Special Steel co. Ltd, whose headquarters are located in Takefu, Fukui Prefecture. Initially used in the production of kitchen knives, it quickly found use as an excellent material for utility blades. Due to import restrictions, almost all knives made of VG-10 steel are manufactured in Seki, Japan.
Compression-Lock - (similar to Liner-Lock) Spyderco's patented blade locking mechanism. Extremely durable, it provides extreme strength and ease of use. Located on the back of the handle, it protects the knife from inadvertent locking. When releasing the lock, the fingers are not in the path of the folding blade.
Blade - with Leaf-Shaped profile, 4 mm thick. Plain blade was derived with Full Flat Grind. The flat grind guarantees perfect geometry of the cutting edge with a sharp tip, reduces the weight of the knife and presents a beautiful satin finish. Notched thumb rest (ramp) for efficient folder handling. Enlarged 14mm round SpyderHole cutout (Spyderco patent) allows easy opening of the blade with a glove as well as with wet, sweaty hands.
Handle - anatomically profiled, textured, non-slip Bi-Directional Texturing facings strengthen the grip, even with wet hands. Made of FRN (Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon), a fiberglass-reinforced nylon plastic. Open-backed design fixed with steel spacer sleeves reduces weight and makes cleaning easier. Metal hourglass clip with four-way (up/down, right/left) 4-way clip positions. In the back of the handle lanyard hole, a hole for a cord.
