All MAM Filmam knives blades are made from high-quality AISI 420 stainless steel from German Thyssen-Krupp steel mills. The steel undergoes a specialized heat-treating and hardening process similar to that of VG-10 steel to maximize the full potential of 420 steel. The addition of molybdenum (Mo), vanadium (V), silicon (Si) and carbon (C) allows the steel to be hardened to 57 HRC while providing strength, toughness, machinability and excellent corrosion resistance. The high carbon content produces chromium carbide compounds, providing wear resistance and holding the sharpness of the cutting edge after hardening.
