Manticore X D/E Black Frag Aluminum, Black DLC is the largest OTF (Out The Front) automatic knife in the Manticore series. Equipped with a hell of a fast mechanism that extends a razor-sharp blade. 100% made and assembled in the USA. Designed by Anthony Marfione Jr. knifemaker and owner of Heretic Knives.

Operating in D/A (Double Action) mode, it features an innovative locking mechanism for unparalleled performance and reliability. Designed with precision engineering and built with the highest quality materials. Key features of the largest Manticore X include the silky-smooth operation of the powerful mechanism when unfolding and folding with one hand, which starts with a gradual slide of the stepped slide with your thumb, so you can fire the powerful blade with confidence.

CPM MagnaCut powdered stainless steel manufactured using the Crucible® Particle Metallurgy (CPM) process hardened to 60.5-62.5 HRC. The high content of vanadium 4.0% (V), molybdenum 2.0% (Mo) and niobium 2.0% (Nb) guarantees accuracy and purity unmatched by more “conventional” steels. Designed and developed specifically for blade production by Larrin Thomas, it meets all the requirements of knife enthusiasts. With CPM MagnaCut succeeded in creating a steel that combines the unique properties of knife steels like no other. The result is a blade material that offers a remarkable balance of wear resistance, strength and corrosion resistance. There is no other steel on the world market today that offers a comparable combination of superior properties. This exceptional steel is produced at Crucible® Industries' U.S. steel mills.

DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) durability of the blade surface is enhanced with a matte black nanocomposite coating that exhibits the unique properties of natural diamonds, such as exceptional hardness and low friction, also corrosion resistance. It is one of the most resistant coatings to scratches and abrasion that are used in the industry, including the knife industry.

Blade - machine ground D/E (Double Edge Dagger) type with a double-edged symmetrical blade. The blade is coated with black DLC coating, brought out with a high flat grind (Flat Grind), providing excellent cutting properties. As a result, while maintaining high strength, the knife has excellent piercing properties. The powerful mechanism of extending / retracting the blade with the help of a moled Thumb Slide, a stepped slider, requires for safety the application of a specific force to overcome the resistance of the spring. The method of opening provides seamless opening for both right and left-handed people.

Handle - made with perfect precision in 3D technology on CNC milling machines, from anodized 6061-T6 aluminum. The distinctive texture of the Handle imitating the surface of a fragmentation grenade (Frag Pattern), in addition to visual value, makes the knife does not slip in the hand during use. There are notches (jimping) on the back and bottom of the handle for a more secure grip. The slim profile and milled two-position (right/left) solid deep-carry clip allow the knife to be carried discreetly in any pocket in tip-down position (blade tip down). The Handle is finished with a lanyard hole, a rope hole and a glass breaker.
