Zac Whitmore , an acclaimed knife designer, has gained an international reputation for his innovative designs that combine functionality and aesthetics. A mechanical engineer by training, Whitmore began his career as a craftsman, honing his skills in a small workshop where he experimented with various metalworking techniques. His passion for creating knives was born out of his fascination with traditional blacksmithing methods and modern manufacturing technologies. As a result, his designs are not only beautiful, but also extremely durable and functional.
Civivi - a sub-brand of WE Knife, a company that produces knives of the highest global quality. Production takes place on the same production lines as WE, so the highest standard of assembly is maintained.
14C28N - a martensitic chromium stainless steel is the latest development in the range of knife steels produced by Sandvik's Swedish mills . An optimized chemical composition with a unique combination provides superior quality, excellent edge performance, high hardness and corrosion resistance. By reducing the amount of carbon 0.62% (C) and increasing the chromium content 14.0% (Cr), as well as adding nitrogen 0.11% (N), corrosion resistance has been significantly improved. Considered an improved version of 13C26 steel. Unbeatable in the price/quality category!
Crossbar Lock - a crossbar that moves horizontally in longitudinal cutouts in the steel side plates of the handle frame. When the knife is opened, the locking bar overlaps the back of the blade from above, preventing its return movement. This beam is pressed down by two springs. Unlocking is done by pulling back the locking bar, the ends of which are accessible through cutouts in the grips on the sides of the Handle grips. In the closed position, the bar presses against the cam surface at the back of the Blade, preventing it from opening on its own. Advantages of the Crossbar Lock include resistance to contamination, practical insensitivity to dynamic loads, ease of operation with both right and left hands, and lightweight operation.
Blade - Spey Point type , finished masking minor scratches with a bath of fine Stonewashed pebbles , and then covered with a black coating. The small thickness of the blade, combined with a high, flat grind, gives excellent cutting edge geometry and extreme cutting performance. Ball bearing ceramic supports the smooth operation of the blade's opening mechanism, which can be opened with a double-sided peg in the wedge (dual thumb stud). On the back of the upper jimping wedge, a notched thumb rest. The whole is locked with a solid crossbar lock.
Handle grips - grips made of Canvas Micarta composite , practically indestructible plastic, insensitive to weather conditions, resistant to chemicals and mechanical damage. Chamfered cover edges eliminate sharp edges for a comfortable and secure grip. The open-backed design reduces weight and makes cleaning easier. The simple, secure design gives assurance of many years of use. The pivot axis is decorated with a stylized Civivi brand logo . Two-position (right/left) deep-carry clip allows you to carry the knife discreetly in your pocket in tip-up position (blade tip up).
Case - the knife is packed in a zippered soft nylon case with the brand's logo. It is used for safe storage and transportation of the folder.
