Microtech Ultratech S/E Gen III ZBP OTF Knife Natural Clear Aluminium, Apocalyptic P/S M390MK by Tony Marfione (1121-11APNC)
- Ultratech S/E Gen III ZBP Natural Clear Aluminium, Apocalyptic P/S offers a range of enhancements: an improved glass breaker, along with key innovations such as the Crud Kutter™, Dual-Fuel Drive Train™, and Zero Blade Play™.

Ultratech S/E Gen III ZBP Natural Clear Aluminum, Apocalyptic P/S is a new version of the Ultratech series - the first OTF knife from Microtech without any blade play after opening! The automatic knife with “blade play free” blade stands out with a number of improvements, such as; Crud Kutter™, Dual-Fuel Drive Train™, Zero Blade Play™. The handle has also been redesigned and features solutions known from other models. Working in D/A (Double Action) mode, it allows the blade to be quickly extended and retracted with a flick of the thumb. The design by Tony Marfione, owner of Microtech Knives, combines modern design with the highest quality of workmanship
Zero Blade Play™ - a redesigned blade locking system that eliminates the problem of most OTF knives, i.e. play on the blade after opening.
Dual-Fuel Drive Train™ - an updated knife opening/closing system, the mechanism works more smoothly and requires less force to open/close the knife.
Crud Kutter™ - a series of diagonal cuts under the opening slider prevents the accumulation of dirt that could interfere with the opening mechanism.
Ultratech OTF Line - the flagship Microtech model from the OTF line that set the standard for all Out The Front cutters. The Ultratech's patented trigger spring design ensures that the spring is always in a “resting” position, except when the knife is being used. This prevents the spring from wearing out, reduces wear and tear on the internal trigger mechanisms and ensures that the knife will always work effectively. Its light weight, one-hand opening and closing, slim handle and sharp blade make this a one-of-a-kind knife, available only from Microtech.
M390MK - thanks to the cooperation of Microtech and Böhler engineers, an exclusive version of M390 steel has been created, made only for Microtech. The carbon content has been increased and subjected to more precise control, improving the properties of M390 steel to ensure better edge retention, corrosion resistance and polishing. Martensitic high-performance chromium steel produced by powder metallurgy. Due to the alloy concept, it is characterized by an extremely high wear resistance and high corrosion resistance. Thanks to the high wear resistance, the shape of the edge is properly maintained, so that the blade remains sharp for a very long time (requires minimal maintenance). Another advantage is the resistance to “wire” formation during sharpening. High-chromium steel 19.0% (Cr) with an admixture of 1.95% carbon (C), 4.0% vanadium (V), hardened to 59-61 HRC. This super steel is comparable to CPM 20CV or CTS-204P steel by Carpenter. Produced by Böhler Edelstahl in Kapfenberg, Austria.
Blade - machine-ground S/E (Single Edge) Drop Point, single-edged, partially serrated (Partially Serrated). Finished with an eye-catching Apocalyptic patina. The blade is ground flat (Flat Grind), ensuring excellent cutting properties. This gives the knife excellent piercing properties while maintaining high durability. The powerful Dual-Fuel Drive Train™ blade extension / retraction mechanism, operated by a knurled Thumb Slide, a stepped thumb slider, requires a certain amount of force to overcome the resistance of the spring for safety. The opening method ensures trouble-free opening for both right- and left-handed users. The Crud Kutter™ system cuts under the slider to prevent dirt build-up.
Handle - made with precision in 3D technology on CNC milling machines, from brushed and polished 6061-T6 aluminum. The blade features a deeply engraved Microtech logo, the claw of a bird of prey. The surface texture of the handle ensures that the knife does not slip in the hand during use. There are jimping on the spine and bottom of the handle for a more secure grip. Traditional Torx screws are used to tighten the grips, which makes servicing the knife very easy. The slim profile and milled two-position (right/left) solid titanium deep carry clip allow the knife to be carried discreetly in the pocket in a tip-down position. Equipped with a smooth rollerball, thanks to which the knife easily slides into the pocket without damaging the edges of the pocket. The handle is finished with a new version of the glass breaker, a steel pyramid with a pressed-in tungsten carbide ball. There is an opening at the back of the handle for attaching a decorative cord.
