- Nand Gray Titanium, Satin, an exceptional premium folder designed by Dr. Paul Alexander. Titanium Handle, Böhler M398 powder steel Blade and SLIPIT mechanism create a lightweight, elegant and functional EDC tool with an innovative design.

Nand Gray Titanium, Satin is Spyderco's precise answer to the needs of users looking for lightness, elegance and full legal use. Designed by Dr. Paul Alexander, known for his engineering approach to ergonomics, it offers a solution ideal for everyday carry where classic locks are not allowed. This model combines modern technology with a minimalist form. Blade made of Böhler M398 steel guarantees extremely long sharpness retention and resistance to wear, while its full flat grind ensures smooth cutting. The use of the Ball Joint Non-Locking mechanism allows the blade to remain stable in the open position, while there is no classic locking mechanism - making the knife fully compliant with the restrictive legislation in many countries. The titanium handle has been precisely molded to provide a secure grip and modern aesthetics. The overall design is a nod to design enthusiasts who are looking for a subtle yet sophisticated EDC tool.
Paul Alexander, who holds a doctorate in mechanical engineering, combines scientific precision with artistic sensibility to create knives of refined form and functionality. His designs, such as the Parata model for Spyderco, feature innovative technical solutions and an ergonomic shape that works harmoniously with the user's hand. Drawing inspiration from his daily observations and experiences, Alexander transforms raw materials into tools with exceptional aesthetics and precision craftsmanship that reflect his deep understanding of both technology and fine art.
M398 Microclean® - a martensitic high-performance chrome steel produced by powder metallurgy. Due to its alloy concept, it has extremely high wear resistance and high corrosion resistance. Due to its high wear resistance, it adequately retains the shape of the edge, so that the blade remains sharp for a very long time (requiring minimal maintenance). Another of the advantages is resistance to the formation of “wire” during sharpening. The steel has a high chromium content of 20.0% (Cr) and carbon content of 2.7% (C) and vanadium 7.2% (V), with molybdenum 1.0% (Mo), tungsten 0.7% (W). Designed to provide better strength compared to M390, launched in 2019. M398 contains more carbon and vanadium, making it a very hard 60-62 HRC steel. Manufactured by Böhler Edelstahl in Kapfenberg, Austria.
Blade - features a unique geometry, designed for cutting fluidity and efficiency in delicate tasks. The Wharncliffe profile and full-flat grind allow the knife to be handled precisely with minimal resistance in the material. Regardless of size, the Blade maintains full functionality. Powder steel M398, known for its excellent wear resistance and very good edge stability, elevates the utility of the knife to the ultra-premium level. The satin finish adds elegance to the Blade and effectively masks minor scratches from daily use. The Round Hole™ opening system allows for quick and intuitive one-handed unfolding, the knife can also be opened with the Front Flipper. The Ball Joint Non-Locking mechanism provides resistance in the open position without locking - offering a novel approach to SLIPIT design.
Handle - made of solid titanium, which provides exceptional rigidity with low weight and high corrosion resistance. Milled edges, delicate finger rests and an ergonomic grip line make the knife fit securely in the hand despite its compact size. Choils and subtle ribbing improve control and reduce the risk of accidentally closing the blade. The built-in Ball Joint Non-Locking mechanism, based on a double ball latch, offers a unique user experience - maintaining smooth operation and meeting legal requirements in countries that ban locking knives. The overall design is complemented by a tip-up wire clip on both sides for discreet portability and easy access. The open design not only emphasizes the technical nature of the model, but also facilitates maintenance. This is an EDC knife created for users who appreciate engineering, aesthetics and subtle functionality.
