SOCOM Line - the Microtech Socom line takes its name from the United States Special Operations Command, or SOCOM for short. Special Operations Command is the operational command of the United States Department of Defense responsible for special operations. Under its supervision are units such as Navy SEALs, Air Force PJs, Army Rangers and others. A knife that uses such a name must feature professionalism, and the Microtech Socom series absolutely does. They are very sturdy, made of the highest quality materials and can withstand all the rigors of the battlefield. They may be an investment, but they are built to withstand anything. Whether you choose the Alpha, Bravo or Elite series you know you are buying the best tool on the market. And its legendary reliability has made it the first choice for the special operations community.
M390MK - a collaboration between Microtech and Böhler engineers resulted in an exclusive version of M390 steel made only for Microtech. The carbon content has been increased and subjected to closer scrutiny thus improving the properties of M390 steel to provide better edge retention, corrosion resistance and polishing. Martensitic high-performance chromium steel produced by powder metallurgy. Due to its alloy concept, it has extremely high wear resistance and high corrosion resistance. Due to its high wear resistance, it adequately maintains the shape of the edge, so the blade stays sharp for a very long time (requiring minimal maintenance). Another of the advantages is resistance to the formation of “wire” during sharpening. The steel has a high chromium content of 19.0% (Cr) doped with 1.95% carbon (C), vanadium 4.0% (V), and is hardened to 59-61 HRC. This super steel is comparable to Carpenter's CPM 20CV or CTS-204P steels. Manufactured by Böhler Edelstahl in Kapfenberg, Austria.
Blade - wide, machine-ground with an S/E (Single Edge) Clip Point profile and a single sharpened cutting edge. The Apocalyptic finish gives the surface a distinctive aged appearance while helping to conceal minor marks that develop during use. The pronounced belly extends the effective cutting edge and flows smoothly into a precise, needle-like tip. Substantial blade thickness combined with a high Flat Grind delivers excellent cutting performance while maintaining a high level of structural strength. Automatic deployment is activated by a wide button set into a shallow recess in the handle, helping reduce the risk of accidental activation. For improved control, the spine features upper jimping – precisely machined texturing that provides a secure thumb rest during use. Once deployed, the blade is secured by the proven Button Lock mechanism, ensuring a solid lock-up in the working position and delivering the decisive action characteristic of Microtech automatic designs.
Handle - made with perfect precision in 3D technology on CNC milling machines from anodized aluminum 6061-T6. Perfectly fitted inlays (inlay) made of special 3M Traction Tape material with sandpaper texture make the knife non-slip in the hand during use. There are notches (jimping) on the back of the Handle for a more secure grip. The ergonomic profile and milled single-position (right) solid clip, allow the knife to be carried discreetly in the pocket, in tip-down (blade tip down) position. In the back there is a lanyard hole, a place for a safety or decorative cord. The Handle is finished with glass breaker.
