- Cobol Gray Titanium, Satin - an ultralight premium folder designed by Paul Alexander. It combines a blade made of M390 powder steel with a satin finish with a titanium handle. Minimalist design, precise geometry and full symmetry.
295,03 €This product is intended for use only by adults with knowledge and experience in handling sharp cutting tools. Improper use of the knife can result in serious injuries. The blade is extremely sharp and can easily cut through skin and tissue; therefore, extra caution should always be exercised while cutting, and hands should be kept away from the cutting edge. To prevent the knife from slipping, it is recommended to cut on a stable, non-slip surface and avoid excessive force, which may cause uncontrolled blade movement.
Leaving the knife on the edge of a table, countertop, or in easily accessible places—especially where children are present—poses a significant safety risk. The knife should always be properly secured after use, ideally by placing it on a stable surface or storing it in designated knife blocks, protective sheaths, or magnetic strips. The knife should never be used for tasks it is not designed for, such as opening cans or prying objects, as this can damage the tool and lead to dangerous accidents.
A dull blade increases the risk of injury, as it requires more force and is more likely to slip from the material being cut. Therefore, it is essential to sharpen the knife regularly to maintain optimal sharpness. Additionally, proper cleaning and drying of the knife are necessary to prevent corrosion and bacterial growth. Periodic inspection of the handle and blade is recommended to check for cracks, chips, or looseness. If any damage is detected, the knife should be repaired or replaced immediately.
When using the knife, focus solely on the task at hand—avoid talking on the phone, watching television, or other distractions while cutting. Ensure proper lighting in the workspace for better visibility and control. Please note that some countries or regions have laws restricting the ownership and carrying of knives. Before purchasing or using this knife, verify that its use is legal in your location according to applicable regulations.
Following these safety guidelines will help ensure safe and effective knife use, minimizing the risk of accidents and extending the lifespan of the tool.
Cobol Gray Titanium, Satin is a modern interpretation of a compact folder, designed by Dr. Paul Alexander - an artist known for combining futuristic lines with pragmatic ergonomics. This model develops the idea of the Ball Joint Non-Locking mechanism , while offering a completely ambivalent character and minimalist form. The aesthetics based on clean, geometric lines are reflected in the design details, which are subordinated to the principle of utility and symmetry. This design is not just a tool - it is a thoughtful engineering object, whose design meets the expectations of users looking for an object of exceptional precision. The profiled Blade combines elements of the classic tanto with inspiration from the katana sword, creating a unique rising blade shape. The blade is made of Böhler M390 powder steel, known for its high sharpness retention, abrasion resistance and anti-corrosion properties. A saber grind was used, which increases the stability of the blade and facilitates control during precision cuts. The Blade's extended “tail” allows it to be opened with a razor-like gesture - quick and intuitive. Handle made of solid titanium plates is equipped with integrated spring arms, which - together with embedded balls - lock the blade in the open position without the use of a classic lock. Thanks to this, the design remains fully SLIPIT, and the user can use the knife in countries with legal restrictions for locking models. The whole is complemented by a reversible deep-pocket wire clip, providing comfortable, low-profile carry - for both right- and left-handed users. Cobol is a technical work of art for those who want maximum functionality and an out-of-the-box approach to design.
Paul Alexander, who holds a doctorate in mechanical engineering, combines scientific precision with artistic sensibility to create knives of refined form and functionality. His designs, such as the Parata model for Spyderco, feature innovative technical solutions and an ergonomic shape that works harmoniously with the user's hand. Drawing inspiration from everyday observations and experiences, Alexander transforms raw materials into tools with exceptional aesthetics and precision craftsmanship that reflect his deep understanding of both technology and fine art.
M390 - a martensitic high-performance chrome steel produced by powder metallurgy. Due to its alloy concept, it has extremely high wear resistance and high corrosion resistance. Due to its high wear resistance, it adequately maintains the shape of the edge, so the blade stays sharp for a very long time (requiring minimal maintenance). Another of the advantages is resistance to the formation of “wire” during sharpening. The steel has a high chromium content of 20.0% (Cr) doped with 1.9% carbon (C), vanadium 4.0% (V), and is hardened between 59-61 HRC. This super steel is comparable to Carpenter's CPM 20CV or CTS-204P steels. Manufactured by Böhler Edelstahl in Kapfenberg, Austria.
Blade - with a hybrid tanto profile , inspired by Japanese aesthetics, was made of M390 powder steel - a material with excellent sharpness retention and high corrosion resistance. The saber grind used strengthens the tip and improves control during precision tasks. Opening is done with the extended “tail” of the blade, which works on the principle of a classic razor, without the need for a nail or both hands. In addition, the choil at the base of the blade allows a secure grip and promotes precision during work.
Handle - made of solid titanium, which provides exceptional rigidity with low weight and high corrosion resistance. Milled edges, delicate finger rests and an ergonomic grip line make the knife fit securely in the hand despite its compact size. Choil and subtle ribbing improve control and reduce the risk of accidental blade closure. The built-in Ball Joint Non-Locking mechanism, based on a double ball latch, offers a unique user experience - maintaining smooth operation and meeting legal requirements in countries that ban locking knives. The overall design is complemented by a tip-up wire clip on both sides for discreet portability and easy access. The open design not only emphasizes the technical nature of the model, but also facilitates maintenance. This is an EDC knife created for users who appreciate engineering, aesthetics and subtle functionality.
