Blade made of durable CTS BD1N steel has been finished with satin finish. The opening mechanism, based on the distinctive Spyder Hole, provides quick, intuitive access to the blade, while the Compression Lock guarantees the highest level of safety for intensive use. The Handle made of durable FRN ( Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon) composite offers a secure grip even in wet hands, and the contoured design promotes natural finger placement for increased control of the blade. CTS BD1N - American martensitic stainless steel with high carbon, chromium and nitrogen content. Designed and manufactured in the USA by Carpenter Technology Corporation as an improvement of CTS-BD1 steel, but with a higher working hardness of up to 63 HRC. Noticeable differences are the lack of vanadium and the 0.10%-0.15% nitrogen content, which produces almost 4 times as many atoms as vanadium. CTS-BD1N has more chromium, manganese and silicon in its composition for better performance. It performs well as a knife steel with high corrosion resistance. It provides better strength and noteworthy edge-holding ability, as well as a fine-grained structure.
Compression-Lock - (similar to Liner-Lock) Blade locking mechanism patented by Spyderco (made in USA). Extremely durable, it provides extreme strength and ease of use. Located on the back of the Handle, it protects the knife from inadvertent locking. When releasing the lock, the fingers are not in the path of the folding Blade.
Blade - Plain blade led out with a flat grind (Flat Grind). SpyderHole round cutout (Spyderco patent) for ambidextrous thumb opening. The fine-tuned, precision-machined Compression Lock Blade locking mechanism guarantees extremely smooth operation. The notched thumb rest (upper jimping) on the back of the blade and the Finger Choil (an undercut for the index finger between the Handle and the cutting edge) make it easier to control the knife.
Handle - profiled, covered with non-slip textured grips made of durable, heat- and cold-resistant, chemical-resistant FRN ( Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon) composite. The facings were attached to a sturdy spacer (so-called backspacer / handle grips linkage), which ensures the strength of the construction. The whole thing was fastened with torx screws for easy twisting and unfolding of the folder . Stainless steel metal clip with 4-way clip positions (up/down, right/left). Enlarged cord hole in the back.
