The Spyderco Starmate is one of the most important models in the brand's history, the result of a groundbreaking collaboration with Bob Terzuola - pioneer of tactical knives such as the flagship ATCF. The design, based on the “mission-ready” philosophy, combines tactical reliability with functional innovations by Sal Glesser, such as the Round Hole and the carry clip, which changed the folding knife market forever. The Sprint Run® version is a limited reissue that retains the original combat-use profile, while incorporating modern premium materials. It is a proposition aimed not only at active users, but also at collectors looking for knives with history, character and significance in the industry. CPM 20CV steel, liner lock, four-position clip, inlaid Terzuoli logo - every element of this model has been thought out to preserve the heritage of functionality and give it a new quality in the spirit of modern EDC. This is a knife that speaks more than design - it speaks of the culture of use, tradition and innovation.

Bob Terzuola - was born in Brooklyn, New York and attended New York University. After graduating in 1967, he went to Panama as a Peace Corps instructor, and later became a jade carver and gemologist in the Motagua River Valley in Guatemala. In 1979 Terzuola began making knives, and in 1981, at the urging of Bob Loveless, he joined the Knifemakers' Guild. Terzuola's first knives were fixed-blade knives made for soldiers in Guatemala. Later that year, he moved to New Mexico and began making folding knives. Seeing a demand for a knife that could be carried discreetly, he developed a model with black micarta on the Blade and sandblasted titanium bolsters. This innovative solution for which he coined the term “tactical knife”. Bob Terzuola participates in many of the largest and most famous knife fairs around the world.

CPM 20CV - one of the best tool steels, American premium martensitic stainless steel. Produced by US Crucible Industries by the particle metallurgy / Crucible® Particle Metallurgy(CPM) method. The CPM process creates a very homogeneous, high-quality steel with excellent dimensional stability, grindability and ductility compared to steels produced by conventional methods. Designed to provide better wear resistance while maintaining corrosion resistance at the highest level. This super steel is comparable to Bohler's M390 steel or Carpenter's CTS-204P. According to some knife manufacturers, 20CV is the best of these three steels in terms of edge retention. It consists of 19.0% carbon (C), 20.0% chromium (Cr), 4.0% vanadium (V), 1.0% molybdenum (Mo) and 0.6% tungsten (W). The high percentage of chromium with a touch of molybdenum makes 20CV one of the best high-end corrosion-resistant steels.

Blade - clip point profile, typical of Terzuoli design , provides excellent control and cutting versatility, especially in the context of tactical and utility tasks. The hollow grind increases cutting aggression, without sacrificing edge durability. Made from CPM 20CV powder steel, the Blade offers excellent abrasion resistance, long-lasting sharpness retention and high corrosion resistance, making it ideal for both everyday use and collecting. The satin finish gives the wedge a clean, technical feel, allowing you to better appreciate the geometry and quality of the workmanship. The Spyderco Round Hole guarantees an intuitive, one-handed opening, while providing full control of the knife - no matter the situation.

Handle - made of texturized G10 composite, provides a secure grip in all conditions - even with wet hands or gloves. Internal skeletonized steel liners increase the rigidity of the construction, while keeping the weight of the knife low. The Michael Walker LinerLock mechanism offers secure locking of the blade, and the four-position clip allows you to adjust the way you carry it to your personal preference. The grips feature an inlaid Terzuoli logo, a discreet acknowledgment of the model's authenticity and design pedigree. This is a premium EDC, combining tactical functionality, iconic design and collector's value - an ideal tool for those who choose products with soul and history.
