Borka Blades (Sebastijan Berenji) is a very popular creator of custom knives with skills that attract a multitude of blade lovers. Sebastijan was born and raised in Yugoslavia and became a US citizen in 2016. The company is named after his late mother, Borka. A few years after he began his career as a knifemaker, he designed a unique folding knife and generated a lot of interest among collectors and enthusiasts. He not only attracted attention, but also attracted the interest of Microtech Knives CEO Anthony Marfione, who offered him a partnership.
M390MK - a collaboration between Microtech and Böhler engineers resulted in an exclusive version of M390 steel made only for Microtech. The carbon content has been increased and subjected to closer scrutiny thus improving the properties of M390 steel to provide better edge retention, corrosion resistance and polishing. Martensitic high-performance chromium steel produced by powder metallurgy. Due to its alloy concept, it has extremely high wear resistance and high corrosion resistance. Due to its high wear resistance, it adequately maintains the shape of the edge, so the blade stays sharp for a very long time (requiring minimal maintenance). Another of the advantages is resistance to the formation of “wire” during sharpening. The steel has a high chromium content of 19.0% (Cr) doped with 1.95% carbon (C), vanadium 4.0% (V), and is hardened between 59-61 HRC. This super steel is comparable to Carpenter's CPM 20CV or CTS-204P steels. Manufactured by Böhler Edelstahl in Kapfenberg, Austria.
Ram-Lok™ (Crossbar Lock) - a crossbar that moves horizontally in longitudinal cutouts in the steel side plates of the handle frame. When the knife is opened, the locking bar overlaps the back of the Blade from above, preventing its return movement. This element is pressed down by two springs. Unlocking is done by pulling the bar back; its ends are accessible through cutouts in the grips on both sides of the Handle grips. In the closed position, the bar presses against the cam surface at the back of the blade, preventing it from opening on its own. The advantages of the Ram-Lok lock are high resistance to contamination, practical insensitivity to dynamic loads, ease of operation with both right and left hands, and light, smooth operation of the mechanism.
Blade - wide, type S/E (Single Edge) Spear Point. Covered with a black protective coating that effectively masks minor scratches and marks from use. The gently curved cutting edge converges to a needle-sharp tip. The solid thickness of the blade, combined with a flat grind, provides great cutting qualities while maintaining high durability. The long false blade on the back further enhances the already excellent material piercing properties. The knife is opened with a wide, oval opening in the blade (thumb hole). For full control of the blade in the lower part of the blade there is a finger choil large, serrated finger hole, and on the back of the blade there is an upper jimping, which is a notched support for the thumb. The whole is locked with a convenient Ram-Lok mechanism .
Handle - made on CNC milling machines with the highest precision, made of G-10 composite, with deeply milled 3D Fluted structure . The wide locking slide with Microtech's characteristic stepped structure(X Button) provides secure and comfortable handling. The grips are connected by a solid aluminum backspacer. The double-sided (right/left) clip allows the knife to be carried discreetly in the tip-up position. The protruding section of the backspacer, with a hole for a cord, can also serve as an improvised glass striker.
