Para Military2 Black FRN, Satin iconic Spyderco knife, a compact version of the Military folder. A lighter version in which G10 composite grips have been replaced by much lighter FRN plastic. Improved technically - improved ergonomics of the Handle (thinner, tapered at the end) - elongated tip of the blade - enlarged cord hole. Fully demountable torx bolt jointed design for easy cleaning and adjustment of the folder. Manufactured at the Spyderco factory in the USA (Golden, Colorado).
CTS BD1N - American martensitic stainless steel with high carbon, chromium and nitrogen content. Designed and manufactured in the USA by Carpenter Technology Corporation as an improvement of CTS-BD1 steel, but with a higher working hardness of up to 63 HRC. Noticeable differences are the lack of vanadium and the 0.10%-0.15% nitrogen content, which produces almost 4 times as many atoms as vanadium. CTS-BD1N has more chromium, manganese and silicon in its composition for better performance. It performs well as a knife steel with high corrosion resistance. It provides better strength and noteworthy edge-holding ability, as well as a fine-grained structure.
Compression-Lock - (similar to Liner-Lock) a patented blade locking mechanism by Spyderco (made in USA). Extremely durable, it provides extreme strength and ease of use. Located on the back of the Handle, it protects the knife from inadvertent locking. When releasing the lock, the fingers are not in the path of the folding Blade.
Blade - laser-cut with a modified Clip Point profile, finished with an elegant satin finish. Plain blade is brought out with a Full Flat Grind to increase cutting properties and reduce the weight of the knife. The blade offers extreme sharpness and unparalleled edge life. The SpyderHole round cutout (Spyderco patent) allows the knife to be opened with a glove as well. Prominent Finger Choil - a contoured undercut for the index finger and a notched thumb ramp on the back of the Blade increase control of the knife.
Handle - made of lightweight FRN (Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon), it features bi-directional non-slip textured grips (Bi-Directional Texturing) for grip in all conditions (including with greasy or wet hands). A screw-on wire clip (left/right) allows you to carry the knife in tip-up (tip up) position. In the back of the tang an enlarged hole (lanyard hole) for pulling alanyard or safety line.
