M390MK - thanks to the collaboration between Microtech and Böhler engineers, an exclusive version of M390 steel has been created just for Microtech. The carbon content has been increased and subjected to more thorough control, improving the properties of M390 steel to ensure better edge retention, corrosion resistance, and polishing. Martensitic high-performance chrome steel produced by powder metallurgy. Due to the alloy concept, it is characterized by exceptionally high wear resistance and high corrosion resistance. Thanks to its high wear resistance, it retains its edge shape, which means that the blade stays sharp for a very long time (requires minimal maintenance). Another advantage is its resistance to “wire” formation during sharpening. Steel with a high chromium content of 19.0% (Cr) with an admixture of 1.95% carbon (C), 4.0% vanadium (V), hardened in the range of 59-61 HRC. This super steel is comparable to Carpenter's CPM 20CV or CTS-204P steels. Manufactured by Böhler Edelstahl in Kapfenberg, Austria.
Ram-Lok (Crossbar Lock) - a crossbar moving horizontally in longitudinal cutouts in the steel side plates of the handle frame. When the knife is opened, the locking bar engages the rear of the blade from above, preventing it from moving back. The bar is pressed down by two springs. Unlocking occurs when the locking bar is pulled back, the ends of which are accessible through cutouts in the linings on the sides of the handle. In the closed position, the bar presses against the cam surface at the rear of the blade, preventing it from opening spontaneously. The advantages of the Ram-Lok lock are its resistance to contamination, practical insensitivity to dynamic loads, ease of use with both the right and left hand, and lightness of operation.
Blade - machine-ground Sheepfoot type, single-edged S/E (Single Edge). Finished with Apocalyptic patina to mask scratches. Opened with a thumb hole, making it easy to use for both right- and left-handed people. The blade has a high flat grind, giving it excellent cutting edge geometry and extreme cutting performance. To maintain full control over the blade, the spine of the blade features upper jimping, a serrated thumb rest. The whole thing is locked with a convenient Ram-Lok lock.
Handle - made with excellent precision using 3D technology on CNC milling machines from brushed and polished 6061-T6 aluminum, the characteristic texture of the handle imitating the surface of a fragmentation grenade (Frag Pattern) not only looks good, but also prevents the knife from slipping in your hand during use. Wide lock slider with Microtech's characteristic stepped X structure. Both liners are screwed together with a solid aluminum backspacer. The double-sided (right/left) clip allows you to discreetly carry the knife in a tip-up position. Above the clip is a lanyard hole, a place for a safety or decorative cord.
