14C28N - martensitic chromium stainless steel is the latest achievement in the range of knife steels produced by the Swedish steelworks Sandvik. Its optimized chemical composition, featuring a unique combination of elements, ensures the highest quality, excellent edge performance, high hardness, and corrosion resistance. By reducing the carbon content to 0.62% (C) and increasing the chromium content to 14.0% (Cr), as well as adding 0.11% nitrogen (N), corrosion resistance has been significantly improved. Vacuum & Cryogenic - 14C28N steel undergoes a specialized heat treatment process comprising two key stages. Vacuum Heat Treatment involves hardening the steel in a vacuum environment, which minimizes oxidation and ensures more uniform metal properties. This process increases the steel’s strength and structural integrity. Cryogenic Treatment: After heating, the steel is rapidly cooled to extremely low temperatures, often below -100°C (-148°F). This transformation converts residual austenite into martensite, significantly increasing hardness, wear resistance, and overall durability. Thanks to these advanced processes, 14C28N steel delivers exceptional performance, offering both razor-sharp edge retention and remarkable blade durability.Blackwashed - a blade finishing method that combines two techniques. Black Coating - a protective, non-reflective black coating. Stonewashed - after the coating is applied, the blade undergoes a process that gives it a slightly aged, satin-matte appearance and effectively masks minor scratches and marks caused by use. The final result is a unique, aged look with a matte, dark finish that is both stylish and practical. It is a more aesthetic variant of the classic black stonewashed finish.

Blade—featuring a skinner profile with a sharply raised cutting edge and a slender, highly precise tip. This geometry ensures exceptionally smooth guidance of the cutting edge during pulling cuts and long, controlled movements. The skinner profile works well not only for outdoor applications but also wherever effective cutting of fibrous materials, ropes, straps, leather, or outdoor gear is required. Compared to more classic utility profiles, this blade type offers a more natural feel when cutting in an arc. The flat grind further improves material penetration and supports high cutting performance. This allows the blade to maintain the right balance between edge aggressiveness and cross-section stability. The beadblasted finish gives the surface a technical, raw character and complements Jake Hoback’s design well. On the spine near the hilt, there is visible thumb jimping, which improves control during precision work.

Handle - made of G10, it is clearly designed for ergonomic use with the curved blade. Its profile features a deep finger groove and a pronounced hook at the end of the grip, which effectively prevents the hand from slipping during vigorous cutting. This design significantly improves safety and grip stability, especially during pulling motions and when working with gloves. The textured G10 surface increases hand grip and performs very well even in damp environments. The full tang construction further reinforces the entire structure, and steel screws ensure the scales are securely fastened. From a practical standpoint, this is a handle clearly designed for real-world work, not just aesthetics. The set includes a Kydex sheath with a Tek-Lok system, which allows for convenient attachment to a belt or gear.
