48,46 €YAG SP Brown Micarta, Blackwashed doesn’t try to impress with its size. It’s a compact fixed-blade knife designed by Polish designer Ostap Hel as an everyday carry tool, where speed of use, simplicity of construction, and excellent control are what matter most. The manufacturer positions this model as a knife for Outdoor and Every Day Carry, and the form itself confirms this direction: a compact silhouette, minimalist handle, and lightweight construction make the knife easy to incorporate into your daily kit. The 14C28N blade features a spear point profile and a flat grind, which fits well with the character of a compact utility knife. This geometry streamlines the cutting path, provides good blade feel, and performs well during tasks performed close to the material. The blackwashed finish enhances the technical aesthetics of the design, while the Vacuum & Cryogenic treatment supports the steel’s durability. The Micarta composite handle maintains a simple, compact form. This is a grip designed for everyday use, not flashy styling. The whole is completed by a Kydex sheath with a Tek-Lok attachment, thanks to which the YAG remains a knife ready for discreet and comfortable carrying.
Ostap Hel—a talented Polish knifemaker and designer. His designs are based on the fundamentals of geometry, smooth transitions, and the concept of the “golden ratio.” He isn’t afraid to experiment with new shapes and ideas to adapt them to the unique style and manufacturing capabilities of the company he designs for.
Kubey—an independent brand and one of the largest manufacturers producing top-quality knives at a great price! The company’s motto is “An Edge Above the Rest” / “The edge above all.” Thanks to the use of high-speed CNC machine tools, milling machines, laser cutting, and custom hand finishing, the brand focuses on high-quality craftsmanship and an innovative approach to design. Kubey stands for legendary durability and functionality in cutting tools that will serve you for years!
14C28N - martensitic chromium stainless steel is the latest achievement in the range of knife steels produced by the Swedish steelmaker Sandvik. Its optimized chemical composition, featuring a unique combination of elements, ensures the highest quality, excellent edge performance, high hardness, and corrosion resistance. By reducing the carbon content to 0.62% (C) and increasing the chromium content to 14.0% (Cr), as well as adding 0.11% nitrogen (N), corrosion resistance has been significantly improved. Considered an improved version of 13C26 steel. Unbeatable in the price/quality category!
Vacuum & Cryogenic - 14C28N steel undergoes a specialized heat treatment process comprising two key stages. During Vacuum Heat Treatment, the steel is hardened in a vacuum environment, which minimizes oxidation and ensures more uniform metal properties. This process increases the steel’s strength and structural integrity. Cryogenic Treatment: After heating, the steel is rapidly cooled to extremely low temperatures, often below -100°C (-148°F). This transformation converts residual austenite into martensite, significantly increasing hardness, wear resistance, and overall durability. Thanks to these advanced processes, 14C28N steel delivers exceptional performance, offering both razor-sharp edge retention and remarkable blade durability.
Blackwashed - a blade finishing method that combines two techniques. Black Coating - a protective, non-reflective black coating. Stonewashed - after the coating is applied, the blade undergoes a process that gives it a slightly aged, satin-matte appearance and effectively masks minor scratches and marks caused by use. The end result is a unique, aged look with a matte, dark finish that is both stylish and practical. It is a more aesthetic variant of the classic black stonewashed.
Blade—the Wharncliffe profile gives this model a very clean, functional character. The lowered tip increases control during precision work, and the slightly curved cutting edge facilitates confident blade guidance. In a compact fixed blade, this geometry offers significant practical value, as it limits accidental tip penetration and facilitates work requiring precision. The flat grind is responsible for the cutting action, which works well with the short blade and supports efficient material separation without excessive resistance. The blackwashed finish gives the blade a black, technical surface.
Handle — Micarta composite grips are mounted on a full tang construction, allowing the YAG to maintain good rigidity while remaining lightweight. The grip shape is simple and practical—the knife is designed to fit comfortably in the hand and not take up too much space when carried. The manufacturer also highlights the fully ambidextrous design. The rear part of the handle is closed off by a steel loop for threading a safety lanyard. The Kydex sheath with a Tek-Lok attachment significantly enhances the functionality of this model. This solution allows the carrying style to be tailored to the user’s preferences and reinforces the EDC nature of the entire design. As a result, the YAG remains a simple, compact, and very logically constructed knife for everyday use.
