14C28N - martensitic chromium stainless steel is the latest achievement in the range of knife steels produced by the Swedish steelworks Sandvik. An optimized chemical composition with a unique combination ensures the highest quality, excellent edge performance, high hardness, and corrosion resistance. By reducing the carbon content to 0.62% (C) and increasing the chromium content to 14.0% (Cr), as well as adding nitrogen at 0.11% (N), corrosion resistance has been significantly enhanced. Vacuum & Cryogenic - 14C28N steel has undergone a specialized heat treatment process comprising two key stages. Vacuum Heat Treatment involves hardening the steel in a vacuum environment, which minimizes oxidation and ensures more uniform metal properties. This process increases the steel’s strength and structural integrity. Cryogenic Treatment: After heating, the steel is rapidly cooled to extremely low temperatures, often below -100°C (-148°F). This transformation converts residual austenite into martensite, significantly increasing hardness, wear resistance, and overall durability. Thanks to these advanced processes, 14C28N steel delivers exceptional performance, offering both razor-sharp edge retention and remarkable blade durability.

Blade - Drop Point style, finished with a Beadblasted finish that masks minor scratches. The long cutting edge with a pronounced bevel tapers toward the needle-sharp tip of the knife. The blade thickness ensures high strength, while the high, flat grind provides excellent cutting edge geometry and extreme cutting performance. Ceramic ball bearings ensure smooth and seamless operation of the knife’s opening mechanism. The knife can be opened using a double-sided thumb stud on the blade. On the blade spine, there is upper jimping, a serrated thumb rest. Locking mechanism: Liner-Lock.

Handle—G10 composite grips (glass fiber pressed under pressure with synthetic resin), textured for improved grip, bolted to the steel knife frame. The so-called open-backed construction, secured with steel spacers, reduces weight and facilitates cleaning. The simple, solid construction ensures many years of reliable use. The pivot is adorned with a stylized screw bearing the company logo. A two-position (left/right-handed) metal deep-carry clip allows for discreet carrying of the knife in a pocket in the tip-up position (blade tip facing up). Above the clip is a lanyard hole, a hole for threading a safety or decorative cord.
