14C28N - martensitic chromium stainless steel is the latest achievement in the range of knife steels produced by the Swedish steelmaker Sandvik. Its optimized chemical composition, featuring a unique combination of elements, ensures the highest quality, excellent edge performance, high hardness, and corrosion resistance. By reducing the carbon content to 0.62% (C) and increasing the chromium content to 14.0% (Cr), as well as adding 0.11% nitrogen (N), corrosion resistance has been significantly improved. Vacuum & Cryogenic - 14C28N steel undergoes a specialized heat treatment process involving two key stages. During Vacuum Heat Treatment, the steel is hardened in a vacuum environment, which minimizes oxidation and ensures more uniform metal properties. This process increases the steel’s strength and structural integrity. Cryogenic Treatment: After heating, the steel is rapidly cooled to extremely low temperatures, often below -100°C (-148°F). This transformation converts residual austenite into martensite, significantly increasing hardness, wear resistance, and overall durability. Thanks to these advanced processes, 14C28N steel delivers exceptional performance, offering both razor-sharp edge retention and remarkable blade durability.

Blade—featuring a drop point profile, which is among the most practical and versatile geometries used in utility knives. The gently sloping spine line leads to a solid, well-controlled tip, resulting in high precision while maintaining adequate tip strength. The flat grind ensures excellent material penetration and smooth cutting. This type of geometry handles cardboard, ropes, leather, and light camping tasks well, offering a very good compromise between durability and cutting edge efficiency. The beadblasted finish gives the blade a more technical, slightly tactical character and effectively masks minor signs of wear. Additionally, the thumb groove visible on the spine improves grip control during precision work.
