M390 - a high-performance martensitic chromium steel produced using powder metallurgy. Due to its alloy composition, it features exceptionally high wear resistance and high corrosion resistance. Thanks to its high wear resistance, it effectively retains its edge shape, allowing the blade to stay sharp for a very long time (requiring minimal maintenance). Another advantage is its resistance to “wire” formation during sharpening. Steel with a high chromium content of 20.0% (Cr), alloyed with 1.9% carbon (C) and 4.0% vanadium (V), hardened to a hardness range of 59–61 HRC. This super steel is comparable to Carpenter’s CPM 20CV or CTS-204P steels. Manufactured by Böhler Edelstahl in Kapfenberg, Austria.

Vacuum & Cryogenic - M390 steel undergoes a specialized heat treatment process comprising two key stages. Vacuum Heat Treatment involves hardening the steel in a vacuum environment, which minimizes oxidation and ensures more uniform metal properties. This process increases the steel’s strength and structural integrity. Cryogenic Treatment: After heating, the steel is rapidly cooled to extremely low temperatures, often below -100°C (-148°F). This transformation converts residual austenite into martensite, significantly increasing hardness, wear resistance, and overall durability. Thanks to these advanced processes, M390 steel delivers exceptional performance, offering both razor-sharp edge retention and remarkable blade durability.

Blade - a slender and extremely sharp Leaf-Shaped design. Finished with a Beadblasted finish that masks minor scratches, achieved by sandblasting with fine glass or ceramic beads. The long cutting edge tapers toward the aggressive tip of the blade. The blade thickness, combined with a high, flat grind, provides excellent cutting edge geometry and extreme cutting performance. Ceramic ball bearings ensure smooth and seamless operation of the blade-opening mechanism via an oval hole milled into the blade. On the blade spine, upper jimping provides a textured thumb rest. The entire assembly is secured by a modern Frame Lock mechanism with a steel inlay that prevents wear on the lock face.

Handle - contoured grips made of 6AL4V titanium with a perfectly executed diamond-patterned surface finish. The assembly is bolted to a solid backspacer, also made of titanium. The simple, robust construction ensures many years of reliable use. The pivot is adorned with a titanium cap (Pivot Cap). Single-position (right-side) titanium deep carry clip allows for discreet carrying of the knife in the pocket in the tip-up position (blade tip facing up). The protruding section of the backspacer features a hole for threading a safety or decorative lanyard; it can also serve as an improvised glass breaker.
