58,41 €Purr Gray-Ivory G10, Satin is a design by Ostap Hel, a Polish designer who unconventionally blends the world of EDC tools with a distinctive, recognizable design. When closed, the design takes the form of a sitting cat—with characteristically outlined “ears” and a minimalist detail resembling a muzzle. This visual motif, however, serves more than just an aesthetic function—it is an integral part of a concept in which utility and form create a cohesive, deliberately designed whole. The reverse tanto-profile blade with a flat grind was developed for precise blade guidance and high control during everyday tasks. The Nitro-V steel used ensures good corrosion resistance and stable edge retention, making the model a fully functional EDC tool. The satin finish highlights the clean geometry and gives the blade a technical character. The G10 composite handle features a compact, minimalist form that complements the small size of the entire design. The double detent slip joint mechanism ensures smooth operation without a traditional lock, aligning with the concept of a lightweight and discreet EDC knife. The whole is supported by ceramic ball bearings, which enhance the mechanism’s smooth operation. The Civivi Purr is designed for users who expect more than a standard folding knife—a tool that combines practicality, quality craftsmanship, and a distinctive, unconventional design identity.
Ostap Hel – a talented Polish knifemaker and designer. His designs are based on the fundamentals of geometry, fluid transitions, and the concept of the “golden ratio.” He is not afraid to experiment with new shapes and ideas to adapt them to the unique style and manufacturing capabilities of the company for which he designs.
Nitro-V is a chromium-based martensitic stainless steel introduced by New Jersey Steel Baron (NJSB). The manufacturer took the already excellent AEB-L knife steel and enhanced it with nitrogen and vanadium to improve edge performance and achieve high hardness and extreme corrosion resistance, particularly crucial in the marine industry and humid environments. Nitro V can be used in diving knives due to its resistance to staining and corrosion. The recommended working hardness ranges from 58 to 62 HRC; compared to other steels, it has very good toughness. It is harder than powder-metallurgy stainless steels such as M390, Elmax, and S35VN. Therefore, Nitro-V is well-suited for knives requiring high durability.
Blade - reverse tanto provides a clearly defined tip and increased control during precision work. The characteristic break in the spine line allows for effective manipulation of the blade tip, which works well for tasks such as scoring, detailed work, or precision cuts. The flat grind ensures smooth penetration of the blade into the material and a good balance between cutting aggressiveness and edge durability. This configuration supports the knife’s versatility in everyday use, providing predictable and controlled blade guidance. The satin finish highlights the blade’s profile and makes it easier to keep clean, while maintaining a technical, streamlined character. The spine features jimping, which improves thumb support and stability during precise operations. The double detent slip joint mechanism ensures controlled opening and closing of the blade via a dual-resistance system, without a traditional lock. This solution enhances smooth operation and fits into the lightweight, minimalist design, while the presence of ceramic ball bearings further improves the smoothness of the entire mechanism.
Handle - made of G10 composite, it was designed as an integral part of the visual and functional concept. Its compact, rounded shape fits well in the hand, ensuring comfort and control despite the knife’s small size. A distinctive feature of the design are the subtle details forming the silhouette of a cat the “ears” and the engraved muzzle motif. These elements do not compromise ergonomics, yet they give the construction a distinct identity and collector’s appeal. The internal construction, based on steel liners, ensures the rigidity and durability of the entire assembly. The G10 surface provides good grip and resistance to moisture and daily wear, which translates to functionality in various conditions of use. The tip-up (L/R) clip allows for comfortable and flexible carrying of the knife, and the included lanyard increases practicality and facilitates quick removal from a pocket. The whole creates a design where aesthetics are not an afterthought, but an equal component of a functional EDC tool.
