Microtech Ultratech Gen III EX-ZBP Interceptor Signature Natural Clear Milled Aluminum, Apocalyptic Böhler M390MK by Tony Marfione (1117EX-10APNCS) is an OTF automatic knife from the Signature Series, featuring an S/E Interceptor blade, an EX-ZBP mechanism, and a light-colored 6061-T6 aluminum body. The Natural Clear finish highlights the material’s metallic character, while the milled surface provides a secure grip.
The D/A OTF mechanism automatically extends and retracts the blade using a single slider. The Zero Blade Play system limits blade movement once extended, while the Crud Kutter™ and Dual-Fuel Drive Train™ ensure smooth operation of the mechanism. The package also includes Torx screws, a titanium clip with a ceramic ball, and an integrated glass breaker.
Böhler M390MK – Premium Powder Steel
The blade is made of Böhler M390MK steel with a hardness of 61–62 HRC. The material is characterized by high abrasion resistance, good corrosion resistance, and long-lasting sharpness, making it suitable for regular use.
S/E Interceptor, Flat, and Apocalyptic
The S/E Interceptor blade features a distinctive spine break and an aggressively shaped tip. The Flat grind promotes stable cutting, while the Apocalyptic finish gives the surface a rugged look and helps minimize the appearance of fine scratches.
Natural Clear Milled Aluminum and the Zero Blade Play system
The handle is made of 6061-T6 aluminum with a light Natural Clear Milled finish. The milled surface improves grip control and highlights the precise craftsmanship of the body. The Zero Blade Play system increases the blade’s stability when extended, and the reversible clip allows you to adjust the carry side.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I care for and sharpen Böhler M390MK steel?
After use, clean the blade and dry it thoroughly. For sharpening, it is best to use diamond stones, CBN systems, or a precision guide system.
How does the Zero Blade Play system work?
Zero Blade Play reduces perceptible blade movement after it is extended, increasing blade stability during operation and improving the precision of controlled cuts.
What are the advantages of the Natural Clear Milled finish?
Natural Clear preserves the bright, metallic appearance of aluminum, while the milled surface improves grip and control of the frame when operating the OTF mechanism.
What makes the Interceptor profile unique?
The Interceptor features a distinctive break in the spine, a clearly defined tip, and a single smooth cutting edge. The profile combines technical styling with functional geometry.
Can the clip be moved to the other side?
Yes. The titanium clip can be mounted on the right or left side in a tip-down configuration, meaning with the tip of the retracted blade pointing downward.
