Microtech Ultratech Gen IV Interceptor Signature Black Topographic Deep Engraved Aluminum, Apocalyptic Böhler M390MK by Tony Marfione (11174TP-10APS) is a premium OTF automatic knife from the Signature Series. The model combines an S/E Interceptor blade, Böhler M390MK steel, a Gen IV mechanism, and an aluminum frame with a deeply engraved topographic pattern.
The D/A OTF system extends and retracts the blade using the same slider. Crud Kutter™ and Dual-Fuel Drive Train™ technologies ensure smooth operation of the mechanism, while the Zero Blade Play system limits blade movement once extended. The design is complemented by Torx screws, a titanium clip with a ceramic ball, and an upgraded glass breaker.
Böhler M390MK – powder steel with high edge retention
The blade is made of Böhler M390MK steel with a hardness of 61–62 HRC. The material provides high abrasion resistance, good corrosion resistance, and long-lasting sharpness. It performs well when regularly cutting cardboard, tape, cord, plastics, and other everyday materials.
S/E Interceptor, Flat, and Apocalyptic
The S/E Interceptor profile is distinguished by an aggressively contoured tip, a pronounced break in the spine, and a functional cutting edge. The Flat grind ensures stable blade control, while the Apocalyptic finish gives the blade a weathered, well-worn look and helps mask minor signs of wear.
Black Topographic Deep Engraved and Gen IV Mechanism
The handle is made of 6061-T6 aluminum. The deeply engraved topographic pattern improves grip control and highlights the technical styling of the Signature Series. The upgraded Gen IV drive mechanism, the Crud Kutter™ system, and the milled titanium clip with a ceramic ball enhance functionality during everyday use.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I care for and sharpen Böhler M390MK steel?
After use, clean the blade and dry it thoroughly. For sharpening, it is best to use diamond stones, CBN systems, or a precision guide system that helps maintain a consistent angle.
How does the D/A OTF mechanism work?
The D/A OTF mechanism extends and retracts the blade using the same slide. Moving the slide forward automatically extends the blade, and moving it in the opposite direction retracts it into the handle.
What makes the Interceptor profile unique?
The Interceptor features a distinctly shaped tip and a characteristic curve in the spine. The profile provides a functional cutting edge and a precise tip for controlled work.
What does the Zero Blade Play system offer?
The Zero Blade Play system reduces perceptible blade movement after extension, increasing blade stability during use.
Does the knife have a glass breaker?
Yes. The upgraded glass breaker is an integral part of the design and enhances the knife’s functionality in emergency situations.
