The Microtech Amphibian Ram-Lok Mini S/E Black Frag Aluminum, Stonewashed M390MK folding knife by Tony Marfione (137MRL-10FR) is a compact version of the Amphibian featuring a Drop Point/Recurve blade made of Böhler M390MK steel, an aluminum handle with a milled “Frag” pattern, and a double-sided RAM-LOK® lock. The stonewashed finish on the blade gives it a rugged, utilitarian look, while the black aluminum creates a subdued EDC configuration.
The blade is opened manually using thumb studs on both sides. Ball bearings ensure smooth operation of the mechanism, and the RAM-LOK® allows for convenient release of the lock from either side of the Handle. A reversible steel clip allows the knife to be carried in the tip-up position on either the right or left side.
Böhler M390MK and Hollow Grind
The blade is made of Böhler M390MK stainless steel, which combines high corrosion resistance with good edge retention. The hollow Hollow grind provides effective cutting geometry and supports precise blade control during everyday tasks.
Drop Point/Recurve and Stonewashed
The Drop Point/Recurve profile combines a sturdy tip with the characteristically curved line of a Plain Edge. The Recurve design increases the effective cutting zone and helps keep the material being cut closer to the blade, while the Stonewashed finish gives the blade a matte, utilitarian look.
Black Frag Aluminum and RAM-LOK®
The handle is made of aluminum and finished in black with a milled Frag pattern. The textured surface increases the number of contact points with the hand, enhancing grip, control, and ergonomic comfort. RAM-LOK® uses a transverse locking mechanism that stabilizes the blade when fully extended.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I care for Böhler M390MK steel?
After use, clean the blade and dry it thoroughly. M390MK is highly corrosion-resistant, but for long-term storage, it’s a good idea to protect the surface with a thin layer of preservative.
How do you sharpen a Drop Point/Recurve blade?
The Recurve blade is best sharpened with a tool that allows for smooth gliding along the curved portion of the edge, such as a narrow whetstone or a system with appropriately shaped rods. Maintain a consistent angle and apply less pressure near the tip.
How does RAM-LOK® work?
RAM-LOK® uses a transverse locking element that stabilizes the blade when fully opened. The design allows for comfortable operation from both sides of the handle.
How do I clean the Black Frag Aluminum handle?
The milled recesses of the Frag pattern are best cleaned with a soft brush or a slightly damp cloth. After removing dirt, the handle should be thoroughly dried, especially around the mechanism.
How to maintain the pivot?
The area around the pivot should be regularly cleaned of dust and small particles of dirt. After cleaning, you can apply a small amount of a light lubricant designed for knife mechanisms.
