The Microtech Dirac D/E Weathered Crimson Aluminum, Weathered Crimson M390MK OTF automatic knife by Tony Marfione (225-1WCM) is a compact OTF Double Action automatic knife featuring a double-edged Dagger blade made of Böhler M390MK steel and an aluminum handle with a Weathered Crimson Cerakote finish. The distinctive central Dirac slide sets this design apart from many classic OTF automatic knives and facilitates comfortable thumb operation.
The rounded, ergonomically contoured body fits comfortably in the hand, and Microtech’s proprietary mechanism handles the automatic deployment and retraction of the blade. A glass breaker expands its emergency functionality, while a reversible clip allows the knife to be carried tip-down on either the right or left side of the handle.
Böhler M390MK and a flat grind
The blade is made of Böhler M390MK stainless steel, which ensures high corrosion resistance, good edge retention, and properties suitable for a regularly used OTF automatic knife. The Flat grind supports effective and controlled cutting on both edges.
Dagger Double Edge and Weathered Crimson Cerakote
The Dagger profile features a centrally positioned tip and two smooth Plain Edge cutting edges. The symmetrical geometry gives the blade a distinctive technical look, while the Weathered Crimson Cerakote finish creates a cohesive aesthetic with the Handle.
Weathered Crimson Aluminum and Central Dirac Slider
The handle is made of 6061-T6 aluminum and coated with a Weathered Crimson Cerakote finish. The rounded lines of the body enhance the ergonomics of the grip, and the centrally located slide allows you to control the Double Action OTF mechanism without moving your thumb to the side of the handle. An integral glass breaker complements the design’s functionality.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I care for Böhler M390MK steel?
After use, clean the blade and dry it thoroughly. Despite its high corrosion resistance, do not allow moisture, salt, or corrosive substances to remain on it. Before long-term storage, you can apply a thin layer of preservative.
How to sharpen a double-edged Dagger blade?
Each edge should be sharpened separately, maintaining the same angle on both sides. Near the centrally positioned tip, it is advisable to reduce pressure so as not to disrupt the symmetry of the profile.
How does the Double Action OTF mechanism work?
Sliding the central slider forward automatically extends the blade, while moving it in the opposite direction retracts it. This same component controls the mechanism’s entire cycle.
How do you clean the Dirac mechanism?
Protect the knife from sand, fibers, and excess lubricant. It’s a good idea to regularly clean the blade channel and the area around the central slider using a small amount of a cleaner designed for OTF knives.
How to safely store an OTF knife?
The knife should be stored with the blade fully retracted and out of reach of unauthorized persons. Before putting it away, make sure the slide mechanism is working properly and that the blade channel is free of debris.
