The Microtech MSI Mini RAM-LOK 210M-1FLMR combines the compact design of an EDC folder with a milled Merlot-colored aluminum handle and a black Wharncliffe blade made of Böhler M390MK steel. The dark finish of the blade contrasts nicely with the deep hue of the Handle, giving the model a distinctive, cohesive character.
The blade is opened manually using thumb studs, and ball bearings ensure smooth operation. The RAM-LOK lock, titanium backspacer, and steel clip round out the functional design of the MSI Mini.
Böhler M390MK – High Wear Resistance
Böhler M390MK is a special variant of M390 developed for Microtech in collaboration with Böhler. The material combines high resistance to corrosion and abrasion with excellent edge retention.
Wharncliffe with a black finish
The Wharncliffe profile provides a precise tip and a functional edge line, well-suited for EDC tasks. The flat grind supports efficient cutting, while the black blade finish emphasizes the more subdued styling of the Merlot variant.
Milled Merlot Aluminum and RAM-LOK
The Merlot-colored aluminum handle has been milled to enhance surface texture and improve grip control. The gray titanium backspacer adds a contrasting design element, and the steel clip allows you to adjust the carry side.
The RAM-LOK is responsible for locking the blade. Manual opening via thumb studs works in conjunction with ball bearings, ensuring smooth and predictable operation.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I care for Böhler M390MK steel?
After use, it’s a good idea to clean the blade and dry it thoroughly. M390MK has high corrosion resistance, but periodically applying a thin layer of protective coating helps keep the surface in good condition.
How do you sharpen a Wharncliffe profile?
A good starting point is approximately 15–20° per side, while maintaining the factory edge geometry. The straight cutting edge works well with guide-based sharpening systems.
How does RAM-LOK work?
RAM-LOK locks the blade in place using a crossbar that moves within the handle. The mechanism allows you to release the lock without moving your fingers directly into the path of the blade.
How do you clean the milled Merlot handle?
It’s best to use a soft brush or a slightly damp cloth for cleaning. The milled recesses should be thoroughly cleaned of dust and fine debris periodically.
How to maintain the ball bearings?
It’s a good idea to regularly clean the pivot mechanism of small particles of dirt. After cleaning, you can apply a small amount of lubricant designed for knife mechanisms.
