The Microtech MSI 210-13APBMCWS is a striking variant of the Signature Series, combining the functional design of the MSI model with a more refined, collector's-grade finish. The Wharncliffe blade, made of Böhler M390MK steel, features a bronze Apocalyptic finish, while the aluminum Brushed Metal Claw handle stands out with its brushed surface and distinctive claw motif.
Manual opening is achieved via a hole in the blade, and blade stabilization is provided by the RAM-LOK lock. The blade operates on ball bearings, while a titanium backspacer and a steel clip with a brown finish complement the Signature version’s design.
Böhler M390MK – steel developed for Microtech
The blade is made of Böhler M390MK steel, a special grade of M390 developed for Microtech in collaboration with Böhler. The material is characterized by high resistance to corrosion and abrasion, as well as excellent edge retention, making it well-suited for a full-size folding knife intended for regular use.
Wharncliffe, flat grind, and Bronze Apocalyptic
The Wharncliffe profile provides a long, nearly straight cutting edge and a well-controlled tip, which facilitates precise blade control. The flat grind provides versatile cutting performance, while the Apocalyptic bronze finish gives the blade a raw, intentionally aged look.
Brushed Metal Claw, RAM-LOK, and Ball bearings
The handle is made of aluminum and finished in the Brushed Metal Claw style. The brushed surface with a claw motif gives the model a distinctive look and sets it apart from standard MSI versions.
The blade is opened manually using a hole in its surface. The mechanism operates on ball bearings, and when fully opened, the blade is stabilized by the RAM-LOK lock. The design is complemented by a titanium backspacer with a bronze finish and a steel clip that can be switched to the right or left side and is positioned for carrying with the tip pointing upward.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I care for Böhler M390MK steel?
After use, it is a good idea to clean the blade and dry it thoroughly. M390MK is highly corrosion-resistant, but regular maintenance helps keep both the cutting edge and the blade’s finish in good condition.
How do you sharpen a Wharncliffe blade?
It’s best to preserve the factory edge geometry and guide the abrasive evenly along its nearly straight path. High-performance abrasives, especially diamond ones, work well with the M390MK.
How does the RAM-LOK lock work?
RAM-LOK uses a transverse locking element that secures the blade when it is fully extended. The mechanism allows you to release the lock without placing your fingers directly in the path of the folding blade.
How do you clean the Brushed Metal Claw handle?
It’s best to clean the surface with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid harsh abrasives that could alter the appearance of the brushed finish and the distinctive surface pattern.
How do you maintain the ball bearings?
It’s a good idea to periodically clean the area around the blade to remove dust and fine debris. After cleaning, you can apply a small amount of a suitable lubricant designed for knife mechanisms.
