The Kubey Stalker KU504E is a blackout variant of Johan Jordaan’s compact folding knife design. The black G10 handle, the D2 steel blade with a blackwashed finish, and Black PVD hardware come together to form a cohesive, dark design.
The 78.00 mm blade features a Drop Point profile and a flat grind. The knife is opened manually using thumb studs on both sides or a hole in the blade, and the Crossbar Lock secures the blade in the open position.
D2 Steel and Vacuum Hardening
The blade is made of D2 steel hardened to 59–61 HRC. Vacuum hardening ensures high wear resistance and consistent steel properties.
Drop Point, flat grind, and Blackwashed
The Drop Point profile provides a versatile working geometry, while the flat grind ensures effective blade guidance through the material. The blackwashed finish gives the blade a dark appearance and minimizes the visibility of minor wear marks.
Black G10, Crossbar Lock, and Black PVD Hardware
The handle is made of black G10. Black stainless steel spacer sleeves and Black PVD Hardware maintain a consistent blackout aesthetic.
The pivot operates on phosphor bronze washers, and the Crossbar Lock stabilizes the blade when open. The steel clip can be moved to the right or left side in the tip-up configuration.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I care for D2 steel?
It’s a good idea to clean the blade regularly and dry it thoroughly. Periodically applying a thin layer of protective coating to the surface helps reduce the risk of corrosion.
How do I sharpen the Kubey Stalker?
Diamond and ceramic sharpeners, as well as guided sharpening systems, work well for sharpening D2 steel. Regular touch-ups help maintain an effective cutting edge.
What sharpening angle should be used for the Kubey Stalker?
The recommended sharpening angle range is 15°–20°. This allows you to adjust the edge geometry to achieve the desired balance between durability and cutting aggressiveness.
How does the Crossbar Lock work?
The Crossbar Lock uses a transverse locking bar that locks the blade in the open position. The mechanism can be conveniently operated from either side of the handle.
How to maintain the pivot on phosphor bronze washers?
It is important to keep the pivot clean and regularly remove dust and fine debris from the area around it. If necessary, apply a small amount of a suitable lubricant.
