The Kubey Stalker KU504D is a darker variant of Johan Jordaan’s design, combining a purple G10 handle with a D2 steel blade finished in blackwashed. The Crossbar Lock, phosphor bronze washers, and Black PVD hardware give the design a cohesive, technical look.
The 78.00 mm blade features a Drop Point profile and a flat grind. Manual opening is achieved using thumb studs on both sides or a hole in the blade.
D2 Steel and Vacuum Hardening
The blade is made of D2 steel, hardened to 59–61 HRC. Vacuum hardening helps achieve high wear resistance and stable steel properties.
Drop Point, flat grind, and Blackwashed
The Drop Point profile provides versatile performance, while the flat grind facilitates efficient cutting. The blackwashed finish gives the blade a dark appearance and minimizes the visibility of minor signs of wear.
Purple G10, Crossbar Lock, and Black PVD Hardware
The handle is made of purple G10. The design is complemented by black stainless steel spacers and Black PVD Hardware.
The pivot operates on phosphor bronze washers, while the Crossbar Lock stabilizes the blade when open. The steel clip can be mounted on the right or left side in a tip-up configuration.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do you care for D2 steel?
It’s a good idea to clean the blade regularly, dry it, and periodically apply a thin layer of protective coating. This is especially important after exposure to moisture.
How do I sharpen the Kubey Stalker?
D2 responds well to diamond and ceramic sharpeners, as well as guided sharpening systems. Regularly refreshing the edge helps maintain high cutting performance.
What sharpening angle should be used for the Kubey Stalker?
The recommended sharpening angle range is 15°–20°. This allows you to adjust the geometry to your preferred balance between edge durability and cutting performance.
How does the Crossbar Lock work?
The Crossbar Lock uses a crossbar to lock the blade in the open position. The mechanism can be operated from either side of the Handle.
How do you maintain the pivot on phosphor bronze washers?
Keep the area around the pivot clean and regularly remove any small debris. If necessary, apply a small amount of lubricant.
