The CIVIVI Button Lock Elementum C2103E is a compact EDC folder featuring a Sandvik 14C28N blade and Ivory-colored G10 grips. The design features a hollow grind, ceramic ball bearings, and a Button Lock mechanism, while maintaining the characteristic proportions of the Elementum series.
The 75.1 mm blade features a Drop Point profile, a hollow grind, and a satin finish. Steel liners reinforce the handle, and the open construction on spacer sleeves facilitates access to the knife’s interior during cleaning.
Sandvik 14C28N – Utility Steel for EDC
The blade is made of Sandvik 14C28N steel, valued for its good combination of corrosion resistance, ease of sharpening, and performance characteristics. As a result, it is well-suited to a knife intended for regular, everyday use.
Drop Point, hollow grind, and Satin
The Drop Point profile provides versatile geometry and good tip control. The hollow grind reduces the amount of material behind the cutting edge, promoting efficient cutting, while the satin finish gives the blade a classic, understated look.
Ivory G10, Button Lock, and Ceramic Bearings
The handle features Ivory-colored G10 grips mounted on steel liners. The design is complemented by gray stainless steel spacer sleeves and a steel deep-carry clip designed for right-side carry in a tip-up configuration.
The pivot operates on ceramic ball bearings, and the Button Lock locks the blade in the open position. The knife can be opened manually using the flipper or by releasing the lock and allowing gravity to guide the motion. Knurling on the spine of the blade provides better thumb support during use.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes Sandvik 14C28N steel unique?
Sandvik 14C28N is a stainless steel that offers a good balance of corrosion resistance, ease of sharpening, and edge retention, making it well-suited for EDC knives.
How do you sharpen Sandvik 14C28N?
Ceramic and diamond sharpeners, as well as guided sharpening systems, work well for sharpening this steel. 14C28N steel is relatively easy to restore to a high sharpness and responds well to regular touch-ups.
How does the Button Lock work?
The Button Lock uses a button to release the blade locking mechanism. This design allows you to fold the knife comfortably without putting your fingers in the blade’s path.
How do you maintain ceramic ball bearings?
It’s a good idea to regularly clean the area around the pivot of dust and small debris. If necessary, you can apply a small amount of a light lubricant designed for knife mechanisms.
What are the benefits of the hollow grind on the Civivi Elementum?
The hollow grind reduces the amount of material directly behind the cutting edge, allowing the blade to penetrate the material more efficiently and perform well in precision EDC tasks.
