The Kizer Microbe TSJ AirTi Ki2742TSJA1 is the most technical variant of the TSJ series, combining Crucible CPM S35VN steel, light gray aluminum, and the AirTi construction. This compact folding knife, designed by Maksim Epifantsev, features the KStop™ Slip Joint mechanism, a blade hole, and a Nail Nick, while retaining the character of a non-locking knife.
The 54.23 mm Drop Point blade features a flat grind and a stonewashed finish. The steel backspacer, skeletonized Ti-6Al-4V liners, and reversible deep-carry clip create a cohesive design focused on low weight, ease of use, and everyday carry.
Crucible CPM S35VN – powder steel for EDC
CPM S35VN provides good edge retention, corrosion resistance, and smooth performance in an everyday folding knife. With a hardness of 58–60 HRC, it offers more advanced properties than basic budget steels, while still being suitable for regular sharpening with home sharpening systems.
Drop Point, Flat, and Stonewashed
The Drop Point profile provides a practical tip and a versatile edge line, suitable for light and precise EDC tasks. The flat grind supports efficient cutting, and the stonewashed finish complements the light gray aluminum handle well and masks minor signs of wear.
KStop™, Aluminum, and AirTi
The KStop™ Slip Joint controls blade movement without a traditional lock and stops the blade once it exceeds approximately 90°, improving finger clearance when closing. The light gray aluminum works in tandem with lightweight, skeletonized Ti-6Al-4V liners to create a rigid and compact AirTi construction.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I care for CPM S35VN?
After use, the blade should be cleaned and dried, especially after contact with moisture or materials that leave residue. Periodic cleaning of the mechanism also helps maintain the smooth operation of the slip joint.
How do I sharpen the CPM S35VN?
It’s best to use ceramic or diamond sharpening stones or a sharpening guide system. The steel has good wear resistance, so sharpening may take longer than with 14C28N, but it results in a durable edge.
How does the KStop™ Slip Joint work?
KStop™ does not create a traditional lock, but rather controls the blade’s movement and stops it once it exceeds approximately 90°. This increases finger clearance when closing the knife and facilitates more controlled handling.
What is the role of AirTi?
The Ti-6Al-4V skeletonized liners form a lightweight yet rigid frame for the handle. This reduces the overall weight of the construction while maintaining adequate support for the mechanism and grips.
How is the clip configured?
The steel deep-carry clip can be mounted on the right or left side of the Handle. In both configurations, the knife is carried in the tip-up position.
