Microtech Socom Elite Auto T/E Automatic Knife Tan Aluminum, Apocalyptic M390MK by Tony Marfione (161A-10APTA)

Microtech SOCOM Elite Auto T/E Tan Aluminum, Apocalyptic M390MK by Tony Marfione – full-size automatic knife with Button Lock

The Microtech SOCOM Elite Auto 161A-10APTA is a full-size automatic knife featuring a Tanto blade made of Böhler M390MK steel with an Apocalyptic finish and a Tan-colored 6061-T6 aluminum handle. The design features automatic button-activated opening, a Button Lock, and black 3M Traction Tape inlays that increase grip on the handle surface.

The SOCOM Elite Auto retains the large proportions and distinctly utilitarian character of the entire SOCOM family. The 4-inch blade provides a large cutting surface, and the substantial handle fits comfortably in the hand. The automatic mechanism allows for quick one-handed opening, while the steel tip-down clip ensures comfortable carrying on the right side.

Böhler M390MK – steel with high edge retention

The blade is made of Böhler M390MK steel, which offers high corrosion resistance, excellent edge retention, and high wear resistance. In a full-size utility knife, these properties translate to long-lasting edge performance during regular use. The flat grind supports smooth blade guidance and efficient cutting of materials.

Tanto – a distinctly pronounced tip

The Tanto profile is distinguished by a characteristic bend in the cutting edge and a clearly defined tip. This geometry works well for precise initial cuts and tasks requiring control of the front part of the blade. The long main section of the blade remains functional when cutting cardboard, tape, and other utility materials.

Apocalyptic – utility blade finish

The blade surface features an Apocalyptic finish, giving it a matte and intentionally irregular texture. This look complements the technical character of the SOCOM Elite Auto and helps minimize the visibility of minor signs of everyday use.

Tan 6061-T6 Aluminum and 3M Traction Tape

The handle is made of 6061-T6 aluminum in Tan and features black 3M Traction Tape inlays. The textured surface of the inlays increases grip and improves control over the knife, especially during more dynamic use. The Tan/Black contrast gives the design a distinctive look.

Button Lock and Automatic Opening

The Button Lock works in conjunction with the automatic opening mechanism. Pressing the button releases the blade and triggers its automatic movement to the open position. This system allows you to quickly open the knife with one hand and is well-suited to the full-size design of the SOCOM Elite Auto.

Washers and Tip-Down Steel Clip

The blade pivot operates on washers, and the steel clip is configured for right-side carry in a tip-down orientation. This solution provides a simple, proven design and allows for comfortable carrying of this large automatic knife in a pocket.

Why Choose the Microtech SOCOM Elite Auto 161A-10APTA?

This is an option for users looking for a large automatic knife with a distinctly utilitarian character. The M390MK blade, Tanto profile, Button Lock, aluminum handle with 3M Traction Tape, and Apocalyptic finish create a robust configuration designed for regular use and comfortable one-handed operation.

Technical Data

Frequently Asked Questions

What does T/E stand for in the Microtech SOCOM Elite Auto?

T/E stands for Tanto profile. The blade features a distinctive edge break and a sharply defined tip, giving it a technical, functional geometry.

How does the Button Lock work in the Auto version?

The button releases the mechanism and triggers the automatic opening of the blade. This feature allows you to quickly prepare the knife for use with one hand.

What does the 3M Traction Tape on the Handle offer?

The inlays have a rough surface that increases friction between the hand and the Handle. This helps maintain a more stable grip while working.

What are the advantages of the Apocalyptic finish?

The Apocalyptic finish gives the blade a matte, irregular surface with a distinctly rugged character. Minor signs of wear are less visible on this finish than on a uniform surface.

Can the clip be moved to the left side?

No. In this configuration, the steel clip is designed to be worn on the right side in a tip-down orientation.
