Warning and Safety Information for the KnifeMore

This product is intended for use only by adults with knowledge and experience in handling sharp cutting tools. Improper use of the knife can result in serious injuries. The blade is extremely sharp and can easily cut through skin and tissue; therefore, extra caution should always be exercised while cutting, and hands should be kept away from the cutting edge. To prevent the knife from slipping, it is recommended to cut on a stable, non-slip surface and avoid excessive force, which may cause uncontrolled blade movement.

Leaving the knife on the edge of a table, countertop, or in easily accessible places—especially where children are present—poses a significant safety risk. The knife should always be properly secured after use, ideally by placing it on a stable surface or storing it in designated knife blocks, protective sheaths, or magnetic strips. The knife should never be used for tasks it is not designed for, such as opening cans or prying objects, as this can damage the tool and lead to dangerous accidents.

A dull blade increases the risk of injury, as it requires more force and is more likely to slip from the material being cut. Therefore, it is essential to sharpen the knife regularly to maintain optimal sharpness. Additionally, proper cleaning and drying of the knife are necessary to prevent corrosion and bacterial growth. Periodic inspection of the handle and blade is recommended to check for cracks, chips, or looseness. If any damage is detected, the knife should be repaired or replaced immediately.

When using the knife, focus solely on the task at hand—avoid talking on the phone, watching television, or other distractions while cutting. Ensure proper lighting in the workspace for better visibility and control. Please note that some countries or regions have laws restricting the ownership and carrying of knives. Before purchasing or using this knife, verify that its use is legal in your location according to applicable regulations.

Following these safety guidelines will help ensure safe and effective knife use, minimizing the risk of accidents and extending the lifespan of the tool.

Apnea 9 Carbon Fiber, Red PTFE professional, ultra-lightweight 85g compact backup diving knife with a full tang construction with line / tapes cutter, shackle opener and lanyard hole. Designed for both professional scuba diving and recreational diving, it is an excellent choice for freedivers, spearfishers, and underwater professionals. Made of W 1.4060 nitrogen stainless steel, it provides excellent corrosion resistance, durability and cutting efficiency. The 7-centimeter blade is long enough to easily cut anything you need underwater. The blade also features a shaft removal tool. The high-performance blade, a comfortable handle and a low-profile scabbard with a secure locking mechanism make the Apnea 9 an essential piece of equipment during any diving expedition.

1.4060 (MA5 / X35Cr16N) - martensitic, nitrogen stainless steel with high hardness. A conventional stainless steel, MA5 steel (X35Cr16N standard AFNOR / 1.4060 standard Wnr) is similar to X46Cr13 steel. Its main advantage is that it offers excellent corrosion resistance, as well as better hardness after heat treatment. Hardness and strength are characteristics of the universal grade. Heat treatment of MA5 / X35Cr16N / 1.4060 steel allows it to achieve high hardness (up to 60 HRC), while being resistant to aggressive marine environments.

Regular maintenance of 1.4060 stainless steel (MA5 / X35Cr16N) prevents the formation of deposits and maintains its luster. It also facilitates the removal of spots and tarnishes. Cleaning should be done before there is a visible layer of dirt or fingerprints, so the danger of permanent discoloration of the steel surface is minimized. For cleaning, do not use agents that contain: chlorine, salt, acids and bleach.

PTFE – polytetrafluoroethylene, widely used in the coating industry, is an ultra-fine, low-molecular-weight material obtained through a special technological process. It is characterized by excellent chemical resistance, resistance to weather conditions and high temperatures, thermal stability, non-stick properties, electrical insulation, flame resistance, and self-lubricating properties. The use of PTFE as a blade coating reduces friction during use, which translates into less force required for various types of tasks. Blades coated with PTFE required, on average, 22% less force during cutting and showed a 26% lower maximum force compared to chrome-coated blades.

Blade – Dagger type, double-edged, featuring exceptional cutting properties with a flat grind. One edge is fully plain, while the other is serrated, ending near the tip with a small plain section. The unique serrated edge consists of an alternating pattern of one large tooth followed by two smaller teeth. This pattern increases the cutting edge length by up to 24% compared to a plain edge, making it ideal for aggressive cutting of hard materials, synthetic substances, and fibrous objects like ropes and nets. A profiled cutout in the blade serves as a lever for prying nails or screws underwater. The blade is polished to a refined finish. The blade should be rinsed with fresh water and lubricated after use. The blade has a Teflon PTFE coating in a bright red color, making the knife easier to find.

Handle - red-colored. For improved grip, Carbon Fiber scales are screwed onto the tang. The steel hilt covered on both sides with jimping and the ergonomic shape of the facings prevents the hand from slipping while working.

Sheath - made of hard PP polymer with holes for drainage of water, moisture. The holster is equipped with a latch to prevent the knife from slipping out in water. The sheath comes with two rubber straps and two polymer buckles allow for attachment of the sheath to the arm, on the leg, or vest.
