Jonathan McNees - a veteran of the U.S. Marines and an avid outdoor enthusiast - has years of experience using knives in the field. When he combined this hard-earned knowledge with his skills as a custom knife maker, one of the results was his "Killer B" folding knife - an incredibly compact tool for everyday carry and the inspiration for the Spyderco McBee.

CTS XHP - an extremely corrosion-resistant, modern American high-carbon and high-chromium powder steel. Designed for the production of high-grade blades and knives. Manufactured at the Carpenter Technology Co. steel mills.

Reeve Integral-Lock - (R.I.L.) reinforced, monolithic Frame-Lock type blade lock . One of the grips acts as the locking mechanism.

Blade - with Warncliff profile , 3.0 mm thick . Plain blade was derived with Saber Grind (saber) cut. The straight cutting edge provides exceptional cutting performance and improved point strength. The enlarged 14mm round SpyderHole cutout (Spyderco patent) allows easy opening of the Blade with a glove as well as wet, sweaty hands. The whole thing is finished with a scratch-masking bath of fine Stonewashed pebbles, well suited to the knife's design.

Handle - sandblasted titanium grips, anatomically profiled for a more secure grip. Enlarged pivot screw at the same time serves as a stop that does not allow the locking leaf to swing too far. The open-backed design, fixed with steel spacer sleeves, reduces weight and facilitates cleaning. The simple, secure design provides assurance of many years of use. Single-position (right) steel clip, allows the knife to be carried in tip-up position (tip up). Above the clip a hole for a safety or decorative cord.
