Bluff Grey Titanium, Sandblasted designed by American designer Garett Caronna, is characterized by its exceptional workmanship and the use of the highest quality materials. The sandblasted titanium handle, with its micro-milled texture, not only ensures an elegant appearance, but also durability and a secure grip. The blade is made of CPM S35VN powder steel, known for its durability and ability to retain its sharpness for a long time, guaranteeing reliability in everyday use. Ball bearings allow for smooth and fast opening of the knife, which increases user comfort. The Axis lock ensures safety during work by preventing accidental closing of the blade. In addition, the compact dimensions when folded make the knife easy to fit in a pocket or backpack, making it an ideal everyday companion.
Garet Caronna is an American knife and tool designer who collaborates with renowned manufacturing companies such as Kubey Knife, Bestechman and BlackFox. His knives are simple, elegant and functional, as well as comfortable to use and carry. His most famous model is Bluff, a folding knife with an axis lock and grips made of ultem, a plastic with high resistance to temperature and chemicals. Garet Caronna is a talented and creative knifemaker who combines modern technology and classic style in his designs.
Kubey is one of the largest manufacturers of high-quality knives at a great price! The company's motto is “An Edge Above the Rest”. By using high-speed CNC machine tools, milling machines, laser cutting and custom hand finishing, the brand focuses on quality workmanship and an innovative approach to design.
CPM S35VN – American martensitic high-alloy stainless steel with a hardness of 59-61 HRC, one of the best steels for blade production. Designed to provide better strength compared to CPM S30V, while maintaining the highest level of corrosion resistance. Manufactured by US Crucible Industries using Crucible® Particle Metallurgy (CPM). The CPM process produces a very homogeneous, high-quality steel with excellent dimensional stability, grindability and toughness compared to steels produced by conventional methods. The chemical composition is balanced to consist of 0.5% niobium (Nb) carbides together with 3.0% vanadium (V) and 14.0% chromium (Cr) carbides. Replacing some of the niobium carbides with vanadium carbides makes the steel about 15-20% harder than S30V without compromising wear resistance, and it is also easier to machine and polish. The improved toughness of CPM S35VN also provides better resistance to edge chipping.
Vacuum & Cryogenic - the steel undergoes a specialized heat treatment process involving two key stages. Vacuum Heat Treatment the steel is hardened in a vacuum environment, which minimizes oxidation and ensures more uniform metal properties. This process increases the strength and structural integrity of the steel. Cryogenic Treatment: After heating, the steel is rapidly cooled to extremely low temperatures, often below -100°C (-148°F). This transformation converts residual austenite into martensite, significantly increasing hardness, wear resistance and overall durability. Thanks to these advanced processes, the steel provides exceptional performance, offering both razor-sharp edge retention and extraordinary blade durability.
Axis Lock - a transverse beam moving horizontally in longitudinal notches in the steel side plates of the handle skeleton. When the knife is opened, the locking bar overlaps the back of the blade from above, preventing it from springing back. The bar is pressed down by two springs. To unlock, pull the locking bar back. The ends of the bar can be accessed through the notches in the handle grips. In the closed position, the bar presses against the cam surface at the back of the blade, preventing it from opening by itself. Advantages of the Axis Lock include resistance to dirt, practical insensitivity to dynamic loads, ease of use with either hand and lightness of action.
Blade - drop point. Finished with a sandblasted finish to hide fine scratches caused by use. Long cutting edge with small belly tapers to a sharp tip. The thickness of the blade and the long grain ensure high durability, while the high, flat grind gives the cutting edge perfect geometry and extreme cutting performance. Ceramic ball bearings ensure smooth and easy operation and assist blade opening with a thumb stud. Upper jimping on the back of the blade, a corrugated thumb rest. Locking mechanism Axis Lock.
Handle - grips made of titanium 6AL4V, a virtually indestructible metal, insensitive to weather conditions, resistant to chemicals and mechanical damage. Textured for improved grip, screwed to the steel frame of the knife. Open-backed design without a typical backspacer, attached to each other with steel spacers for easy cleaning. Simple, solid construction ensures many years of use. Ergonomic finger grooves for a secure grip on the handle. Pivot decorated with a stylized manufacturer's logo. Single position (right) titanium deep carry clip allows you to carry the knife discreetly in your pocket in a tip-up position (with the tip of the blade up).
