Warning and Safety Information for the KnifeMore

This product is intended for use only by adults with knowledge and experience in handling sharp cutting tools. Improper use of the knife can result in serious injuries. The blade is extremely sharp and can easily cut through skin and tissue; therefore, extra caution should always be exercised while cutting, and hands should be kept away from the cutting edge. To prevent the knife from slipping, it is recommended to cut on a stable, non-slip surface and avoid excessive force, which may cause uncontrolled blade movement.

Leaving the knife on the edge of a table, countertop, or in easily accessible places—especially where children are present—poses a significant safety risk. The knife should always be properly secured after use, ideally by placing it on a stable surface or storing it in designated knife blocks, protective sheaths, or magnetic strips. The knife should never be used for tasks it is not designed for, such as opening cans or prying objects, as this can damage the tool and lead to dangerous accidents.

A dull blade increases the risk of injury, as it requires more force and is more likely to slip from the material being cut. Therefore, it is essential to sharpen the knife regularly to maintain optimal sharpness. Additionally, proper cleaning and drying of the knife are necessary to prevent corrosion and bacterial growth. Periodic inspection of the handle and blade is recommended to check for cracks, chips, or looseness. If any damage is detected, the knife should be repaired or replaced immediately.

When using the knife, focus solely on the task at hand—avoid talking on the phone, watching television, or other distractions while cutting. Ensure proper lighting in the workspace for better visibility and control. Please note that some countries or regions have laws restricting the ownership and carrying of knives. Before purchasing or using this knife, verify that its use is legal in your location according to applicable regulations.

Following these safety guidelines will help ensure safe and effective knife use, minimizing the risk of accidents and extending the lifespan of the tool.

KB Knives Zephyr Bronze Titanium, Black DLC M390 by K.C. Spiron (KB470B) is a premium integral folder featuring bronze titanium, a Drop Point blade, and a Black DLC coating.

KB Knives Zephyr – integral folding knife with a Bronze Titanium finish

KB Knives Zephyr Bronze Titanium, Black DLC M390 by K.C. Spiron (KB470B) combines a one-piece titanium handle construction with a contrasting blade coated in Black DLC. K.C. Spiron’s design retains full-size utility geometry, a slender Drop Point profile, and a Frame Lock, creating a knife intended for everyday carry and tactical applications. The brown-anodized titanium gives the handle a warm, technical character, while the black clip, pivot, and screws enhance the color contrast of the entire design.

The blade is made of Böhler M390 powder steel, which has undergone vacuum heat treatment and cryogenic cooling. A hardness of 60–62 HRC ensures long-lasting edge retention, and the flat grind facilitates effective cutting through everyday materials. Ceramic ball bearings ensure smooth operation of the mechanism, while the ambidextrous thumb stud allows for comfortable opening of the folder with either the right or left hand.

Drop Point, flat grind, and Black DLC coating

The Drop Point profile blade offers a strong tip, a long cutting edge, and a versatile geometry suitable for scoring, cutting, and tasks requiring good tip control. The flat grind reduces resistance in the material and improves the predictability of the blade’s guidance. The Black DLC coating gives the surface a uniform, matte finish and increases resistance to abrasion and external factors.

Böhler M390 is distinguished by high wear resistance, excellent corrosion protection, and long-lasting sharpness. Vacuum heat treatment and a cryogenic process enhance edge stability at a hardness of 60–62 HRC. The steel is well-suited for a premium-class folding knife designed for regular carry and use without frequent blade sharpening.

Bronze Integral Titanium and Frame Lock

The handle is constructed using the Integral Titanium design, in which the body and backspacer form a single titanium piece. The bronze anodization gives the surface a distinctive color, highlighting the precise machining and smooth transitions between the individual parts of the handle. The one-piece construction increases the rigidity of the structure and reduces the number of assembly points.

The Frame Lock utilizes a section of the titanium body as the blade locking mechanism. Ceramic ball bearings ensure smooth pivot operation, and the dual thumb stud on both sides allows for manual opening with either hand. The right/left tip-up titanium clip is coated with Black DLC, as are the pivot and screws. The included Pouch protects the anodized handle during transport.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the KB Knives Zephyr KB470B designed for?

The Zephyr KB470B is ideal as a full-size premium EDC folder for cardboard, packaging, ropes, and plastics, as well as a utility knife with a rigid integral construction.

How do I care for brown anodized titanium?

The handle is best cleaned with a soft cloth and mild detergent. Avoid aggressive abrasive pastes that could alter the appearance of the anodized surface.

How to care for and sharpen Böhler M390 steel?

After use, the blade should be cleaned, thoroughly dried, and periodically coated with a thin layer of oil. For sharpening Böhler M390, it is best to use diamond or CBN blades.

What sharpening angle does the manufacturer recommend?

The manufacturer specifies a range of 15°–20°. A lower angle improves cutting aggressiveness, while an angle closer to 20° increases edge durability during more demanding tasks.

Can the knife be adapted for left-handed use?

Yes. The Zephyr features a reversible pin and a switchable right/left tip-up clip, allowing you to adjust how it is carried and opened to suit your preferred hand.
