Microtech Ultratech Gen IV D/E Topographic Black / Orange Camo Aluminum OTF Folding Knife, Topographic Black / Orange Camo M390MK by Tony Marfione (11224-1TPBKORCS) is a double-action OTF automatic knife featuring a symmetrical, double-edged Dagger blade. This Signature Series model combines Böhler M390MK steel, a 6061-T6 aluminum frame, and a black-and-orange topographic pattern covering the blade and Handle.
The thumb slide automatically extends and retracts the blade, allowing the knife to be operated with one hand. Generation IV features the Dual-Fuel Drive Train™, the Crud Kutter™ system, a retractable titanium clip with a ceramic ball, a low-profile glass breaker, and a lanyard hole.
Böhler M390MK – steel developed for Microtech
The double-edged blade is made of Böhler M390MK stainless steel, a variant of M390 tailored to Microtech’s requirements. The material offers high corrosion resistance, good edge retention, and properties well-suited to the precision-engineered automatic mechanism.
D/E Dagger and Topographic Cerakote Coating
The symmetrical Dagger profile features two smooth cutting edges and a centrally positioned tip. The double-beveled flat grind supports the blade’s uniform geometry, while the black-and-orange Cerakote coating with a topographic pattern gives the model its distinctive look.
Dual-Fuel Drive Train™, Crud Kutter™, and 6061-T6 aluminum
The Dual-Fuel Drive Train™ mechanism automatically extends and retracts the blade using a single slider. The Crud Kutter™ system helps remove small debris from inside the blade assembly. The milled 6061-T6 aluminum handle provides rigidity while maintaining a low weight.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I care for Böhler M390MK steel?
After use, clean the blade and dry it thoroughly. Despite its high corrosion resistance, do not leave moisture, salt, or residues of corrosive substances on it. Before long-term storage, you can apply a thin layer of preservative.
How to sharpen a D/E double-edged blade?
Each edge should be sharpened separately, maintaining its original angle and symmetry relative to the blade’s axis. It is best to use a guided sharpening system, which makes it easier to maintain uniform geometry on both sides.
How does the Double Action OTF mechanism work?
Pushing the slide forward automatically extends the blade, and pulling it back automatically retracts it. The mechanism should be operated with a firm, full stroke of the slide.
How do you clean the Crud Kutter™ system?
The system helps remove fine debris but does not replace regular maintenance. Keep the knife clean, remove dust and dirt from the blade opening, and use preservatives as recommended by the manufacturer.
How do I move the clip to the other side?
The clip can be mounted on the right or left side of the Handle in a tip-down configuration. To change the position, use the appropriate tool, taking care not to damage the screws or the coated surface.
