The FOX Saturn Flipper OD Green Canvas Micarta, Stonewashed N690Co folding knife by Denis Simonutti (FX-551 MOD) is a slim folding knife designed by Denis Simonutti, featuring a Spear Point/Dagger-style blade made of Böhler N690Co steel, an OD Green Canvas Micarta handle, and the distinctive Radius Lock. The Flipper version expands on the award-winning Saturn design with a convenient manual opening mechanism via a flipper.
The 65.00 mm blade features a flat grind and a coarse stonewashed finish. The design is complemented by a gray steel backspacer, an aluminum tip-up clip, and a nylon sheath with a Saturn patch. The model is based on a design that won the titles of Overall Knife of the Year 2021 and Imported Knife of the Year 2021 at the Blade Show 2021.
Böhler N690Co 58–60 HRC and Flat grind
The blade is made of Böhler N690Co stainless steel, hardened to 58–60 HRC. The Flat grind provides a versatile geometry suitable for precision and everyday cutting tasks, while the smooth Plain Edge facilitates controlled blade guidance.
Spear Point/Dagger-style and Coarse Stonewashed
The Spear Point/Dagger-style profile gives the blade a slender, nearly symmetrical line and a precise tip. The Coarse Stonewashed finish emphasizes the functional character of the surface and complements the technical design well.
OD Green Canvas Micarta and Radius Lock
The handle is made of OD Green Canvas Micarta, which provides a slightly textured grip surface and enhances control of the knife. The patented Radius Lock system is one of the Saturn’s most distinctive features, and the Flipper version complements this design with a quick, one-handed manual opening mechanism.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I care for Böhler N690Co steel?
After use, clean the blade and dry it thoroughly. N690Co offers good corrosion resistance, but for long-term storage, it’s a good idea to apply a thin layer of a knife-specific preservative.
How do you sharpen a Spear Point blade?
The Plain Edge should be sharpened while maintaining a constant angle and guiding the tool evenly. Near the slender tip, it’s best to reduce pressure to preserve the symmetrical profile.
How does the Radius Lock work?
The Radius Lock uses a distinctive locking mechanism located in the handle that stabilizes the blade when fully opened. The system was designed by Denis Simonutti as an integral part of the Saturn’s construction.
How do you clean OD Green Canvas Micarta?
Micarta can be cleaned with a soft brush or a damp cloth and mild detergent. After cleaning, the handle should be thoroughly dried, especially around the pivot and the lock.
How to maintain the pivot mechanism and Radius Lock mechanism?
The area around the pivot and the locking mechanism should be regularly cleaned of dust and debris. If necessary, you can apply a small amount of a light lubricant designed for knife mechanisms.
