The Microtech Amphibian Ram-Lok 137RL-1FLOBS is a full-size folding knife featuring distinctive, robust geometry and a milled aluminum handle. The Outbreak variant combines a Clip Point blade made of Böhler M390MK steel with a decorative Outbreak finish, creating a distinctive folder designed for both EDC and more demanding tasks.
Operation is handled by a manual opening mechanism with thumb studs on both sides, a RAM-LOK lock, and ball bearings. The titanium clip can be moved to the right or left side in a tip-up configuration, and a full titanium backspacer reinforces the rear of the handle.
Böhler M390MK – steel developed for Microtech
The blade is made of Böhler M390MK steel, a special version of M390 developed for Microtech in collaboration with Böhler. The alloy combines high corrosion and wear resistance with excellent edge retention, making it well-suited for a large utility folder.
Clip Point, hollow grind, and Outbreak finish
The Clip Point profile provides a distinct tip and a long, functional cutting edge. The hollow grind creates an aggressive cutting geometry, while the Outbreak finish gives the blade a distinctive, irregular appearance. The pattern placement may vary between individual knives.
Fluted Aluminum and RAM-LOK
The milled aluminum handle combines a large grip surface with a distinct texture that enhances control over the knife. The Outbreak finish also extends to the handle, so each knife may vary slightly in the arrangement of the decorative pattern.
The RAM-LOK locking mechanism uses a crossbar to lock the blade in place when open. Manual thumb studs and Ball bearings ensure smooth operation, while a gray titanium backspacer and titanium clip complement the folder’s durable construction.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I care for Böhler M390MK steel?
M390MK is highly corrosion-resistant, but after contact with moisture and dirt, the blade should be cleaned and dried. Periodically applying a thin layer of protective coating helps keep the surface in good condition.
At what angle should you sharpen the Microtech Amphibian?
A good starting point is approximately 15–20° per side, while maintaining the factory edge geometry. Due to the M390MK’s high wear resistance, it is advisable to use high-performance abrasives.
How does RAM-LOK work?
RAM-LOK uses a transverse locking element that stabilizes the blade when it is fully extended. The mechanism can be released without placing your fingers directly in the path of the folding blade.
How do you care for the Outbreak aluminum handle?
It’s best to clean the Handle with a soft, slightly damp cloth and then dry it thoroughly. Avoid harsh abrasives that could damage the Outbreak’s decorative finish.
How to maintain the ball bearings?
It’s a good idea to periodically clean the pivot mechanism of dust and fine debris. After cleaning, you can apply a small amount of lubricant designed for knife mechanisms.
