The Microtech Hera II Mini 1702M-10APBL combines a compact OTF design with a double-edged dagger-profile blade made of Böhler M390MK steel. The blue aluminum handle contrasts with the Apocalyptic finish, giving this version a distinctive yet still practical character.
The double-action OTF mechanism allows the blade to be extended and retracted using the same slider. The Dual Fuel Drivetrain system and the redesigned space around the control element ensure smooth operation and minimize the impact of fine debris.
Böhler M390MK – Durability and Long-Lasting Sharpness
Böhler M390MK steel was developed for Microtech as a special variant of M390. It combines high resistance to corrosion and abrasion with excellent edge retention, making it well-suited to the demands of a compact OTF automatic knife.
Symmetrical blade and Apocalyptic finish
The double-edged dagger-profile blade features a centrally positioned tip and two functional cutting edges. The flat grind ensures practical cutting geometry, while the Apocalyptic finish gives the surface a distinctive, intentionally aged appearance.
Blue 6061-T6 aluminum and Double Action design
The handle is made of 6061-T6 aluminum in blue. The closed OTF frame is an integral construction, without a separate backspacer.
The slide controls both the automatic deployment and retraction of the blade. The titanium clip can be switched to the right or left side, and the rear of the body features a glass breaker made from the same titanium alloy.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I care for the Böhler M390MK?
After exposure to moisture or dirt, the blade should be cleaned and dried. Despite its high corrosion resistance, regular maintenance helps keep the edges and surface in good condition.
How do I sharpen both edges of the blade?
It’s best to keep the geometry of both edges as uniform as possible. A good starting point is approximately 15–20° per side, ideally maintaining the factory sharpening angle.
How does the Hera II Mini’s automatic mechanism work?
The slider controls the blade in both directions—pushing it forward extends the blade, and pulling it back automatically retracts it into the Handle.
How do you care for the blue aluminum handle?
A soft, slightly damp cloth is sufficient for cleaning. After removing dirt, dry the surface and avoid harsh abrasives.
How do you maintain the OTF mechanism?
It’s important to protect the mechanism from excessive dust and sand. Regular removal of fine debris and proper maintenance help keep the control mechanism running smoothly.
