Bestechman Cicada's Wing-TL Knife Black Canvas Micarta, Satin 10Cr15CoMoV (BMK24-M-3)

Bestechman Cicada's Wing-TL Black Canvas Micarta Folding Knife, Satin 10Cr15CoMoV (BMK24-M-3)

The Bestechman Cicada's Wing-TL BMK24-M-3 is the most understated of the satin-finished variants featuring Canvas Micarta. The black handle pairs with a light-colored 10Cr15CoMoV steel Sheepsfoot blade, creating a classic EDC configuration featuring a Top Liner Lock, Caged Ceramic Ball Bearings, and thumb studs on both sides.

The knife has a total length of 183.00 mm, a blade length of 80.00 mm, and weighs 79.00 g. The slim 2.30 mm thickness, combined with a flat grind, ensures good cutting performance, and the black Canvas Micarta provides a more secure grip than many smooth synthetic materials. The double-sided Tip-Up clip further enhances functionality for everyday carry.

10Cr15CoMoV – low-maintenance steel

10Cr15CoMoV, with a hardness of 59–61 HRC, performs well in knives intended for regular use. The material offers good corrosion resistance, adequate edge retention, and the ability to resharpen relatively quickly without specialized materials. This makes the design practical even for users who sharpen the blade themselves.

Sheepsfoot, Flat, and Classic Satin

The Sheepsfoot profile facilitates edge control and features a lowered, less aggressive tip. The flat grind promotes efficient cutting, while the satin finish gives the blade a clean, neutral look. The contrast between the bright steel and the black Canvas Micarta emphasizes the model’s simple, functional design.

Black Canvas Micarta and Top Liner Lock

Black Canvas Micarta provides a lightweight, grippy handle with a distinctly utilitarian character. Gray stainless steel spacer sleeves maintain an open construction that facilitates access to the interior during cleaning. The Top Liner Lock is released by a button, and Caged Ceramic Ball Bearings ensure smooth blade movement when opening with the Thumb Studs.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I care for 10Cr15CoMoV steel?

After coming into contact with moisture, it’s a good idea to dry the blade and clean it periodically. The steel has good corrosion resistance, so it doesn’t require complicated maintenance during typical EDC use.

How do you sharpen this model?

10Cr15CoMoV responds well to ceramic and water stones, as well as sharpening guides. Regular touch-ups allow you to quickly restore the edge without the need for aggressive reprofiling.

How does the Top Liner Lock button work?

The button relieves pressure on the liner that locks the blade and allows it to be released. This lets you close the knife without directly moving the liner with your finger.

Is the clip suitable for left-handed users?

Yes, it can be mounted on either the left or right side of the handle. In both configurations, the knife is carried in the Tip-Up position.

How do you clean Canvas Micarta?

All you need to clean it is a soft brush, water, and a mild detergent. When you’re done, be sure to dry the handle thoroughly and let the material air dry completely.
