The Microtech Hera II Mini 1703M-10TA is a slim OTF D/A automatic knife featuring a Drop Point blade made of Böhler M390MK steel and a Tan-colored 6061-T6 aluminum handle. This model combines a lightweight design with a practical stonewashed finish and fully automatic operation via a push/pull thumb slider.
The sand-colored handle gives the knife a more rugged look, while its compact proportions make it easy to carry on a daily basis. The Slide Lock works in conjunction with the OTF mechanism, and the reversible tip-down clip allows you to carry the knife on either the right or left side.
Böhler M390MK – High-Grade Steel for EDC
Böhler M390MK offers high corrosion resistance and excellent edge retention. In the compact Hera II Mini, it performs well during regular utility tasks where a durable edge and low maintenance requirements are essential.
Drop Point and Flat
The Drop Point profile offers a versatile blade shape and an easy-to-control tip. The flat grind supports efficient cutting of materials and smooth blade guidance during everyday use.
Stonewashed – a subdued finish
The blade features a stonewashed finish, which gives the surface a matte, slightly irregular texture. This helps visually minimize the appearance of minor scratches and complements the sandy Tan handle well.
Tan 6061-T6 Aluminum
The handle is made of 6061-T6 aluminum in Tan. The material provides rigidity while remaining lightweight, and the slim profile of the design makes it comfortable to carry in a pocket.
Slide Lock and Push/Pull Thumb Slider
The automatic OTF mechanism allows for full one-handed operation. The push/pull thumb slider extends the blade and retracts it into the handle, while the Slide Lock ensures proper operation of the mechanism in working positions.
Why choose the Microtech Hera II Mini 1703M-10TA?
This is the model for users who prefer a lightweight design and a more rugged color scheme. The M390MK blade, Drop Point profile, stonewashed finish, and tan aluminum handle combine to create a practical set for everyday carry, without sacrificing Microtech’s signature automatic functionality.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Hera II Mini a D/A automatic?
Yes. The same push/pull thumb slider is responsible for automatically extending and retracting the blade.
What is the Drop Point profile good for?
The Drop Point is a versatile profile that works well for typical EDC tasks. It provides good tip control and a functional cutting edge length.
How do you care for the M390MK?
The steel has high corrosion resistance, but after contact with moisture and dirt, it’s a good idea to clean and dry the blade. Regular maintenance also helps keep the OTF mechanism in good condition.
Is the clip reversible?
Yes. It can be positioned on the right or left side in a tip-down configuration.
