The Microtech Hera II Mini 1703M-10 is a compact OTF D/A automatic knife designed by Tony and Sean Marfione. The model features a Drop Point blade made of Böhler M390MK steel, a stonewashed finish, and a slim 6061-T6 aluminum handle in Black. Its light weight and fully automatic operation make it a great fit for everyday carry (EDC).
The Hera II Mini retains the elegant lines of the larger Hera but in a more compact format. The push/pull thumb slider allows for one-handed deployment and retraction of the blade, and the tip-down clip can be positioned on either the right or left side. The slim aluminum handle makes it easy to carry comfortably in a pocket.
Böhler M390MK – steel developed for Microtech
The blade is made of Böhler M390MK steel, a special variant of M390 developed for Microtech in collaboration with Böhler. The material offers high corrosion resistance and excellent edge retention, making it ideal for a compact automatic knife intended for regular use.
Drop Point and Flat Grind
The Drop Point profile provides a versatile shape with a well-controlled tip and a gently curved spine. The flat grind supports smooth cutting and even blade guidance, which is well-suited for everyday tasks.
Stonewashed – a practical blade finish
The blade surface has been finished using the stonewashed method, resulting in a matte and slightly irregular texture. This finish effectively masks minor signs of wear and gives the blade a more practical, understated character.
Black 6061-T6 Aluminum
The handle is made of 6061-T6 aluminum in Black. The material keeps the knife lightweight and rigid, and the slim profile fits well in a pocket and ensures comfortable operation of the OTF mechanism.
Slide Lock and Automatic OTF Mechanism
The Slide Lock works in conjunction with the automatic OTF mechanism controlled by a slider. Sliding the thumb slider in one direction extends the blade, while sliding it in the opposite direction automatically retracts it into the handle.
Why choose the Microtech Hera II Mini 1703M-10?
This is the model for users looking for a lightweight, compact, premium OTF with understated styling. The M390MK blade, Drop Point profile, stonewashed finish, and aluminum handle create a functional package for everyday carry, while the fully automatic mechanism enhances ease of use.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the OTF mechanism work on the Hera II Mini?
The push/pull thumb slider controls both the extension and retraction of the blade. Pushing the slider forward opens the knife, and pulling it back automatically retracts the blade into the handle.
What makes the Drop Point profile unique?
The Drop Point combines a well-controlled tip with a versatile cutting edge. This makes it suitable for many everyday tasks and ensures predictable blade guidance.
What are the advantages of a stonewashed finish?
Stonewashed gives the blade a matte, slightly irregular surface where minor signs of wear are less visible. It works well on a knife intended for regular EDC use.
Can the clip be repositioned?
Yes. The clip can be mounted on the right or left side of the handle in a tip-down configuration.
