IWA Outdoor Classics and Enforce Tac 2026
Report from Nuremberg
Nuremberg, late February 2026. For several days, Messe Nürnberg once again became the world capital of the outdoor, hunting, shooting, and defense industries. IWA Outdoor Classics and its accompanying Enforce Tac trade show attracted exhibitors and visitors from around the world - from survival gear manufacturers, through suppliers of military systems, to creators of niche tactical equipment.
Enforce Tac - Technology on the Front Line
The part of the exhibition dedicated to the defense sector and uniformed services was dominated by solutions that just a few years ago would have looked like props from a science-fiction movie.
One of the more spectacular exhibits was a fully equipped soldier - or rather a mannequin presenting a complete set of special forces operator gear. On its back, a paramotor engine enabling flight along with a parachute, on its head a helmet with night vision, and a tactical tablet mounted on the chest. A demonstration of an integrated combat equipment system - combining aerial mobility with digital command in the field.
There was no shortage of exhibits in the “you have to see it to believe it” category. Stoof International - a company specializing in vehicle armoring - displayed two Toyota Land Cruisers after ballistic testing. The bodywork of both vehicles showed dozens of marked impact points, shattered windows, yet the vehicle structure remained intact. This was not vandalism, but certification - every green and yellow sticker documents the results of the gunfire test. Next to the same exhibitor stood a vehicle with camouflage netting embedded in the bodywork - a demonstration of the Run-Flat system, allowing continued driving after a tire puncture.
A motoring highlight also appeared at Maucher’s booth - a manufacturer of tools and plastic components for the automotive industry. On the red display wall hung door panels and interior components for weapon transport vehicles, demonstrating the precision of injection molding and finish quality.
Attention was also drawn to a green pickup with a quad mounted in the bed - both vehicles equipped with airless tires based on a composite spoke structure. Michelin has been working on this solution for military applications for years, and seeing these wheels in practical use was impressive. The inability to puncture a tire in combat conditions is an argument that needs little explanation.
Enforce Tac also featured strong representation from across the ocean. The United States of America pavilion occupied significant space, showcasing, among other things, mannequins in full CBRN suits - protective gear with gas masks intended for operations in chemically, biologically, or radiologically contaminated environments. The display also celebrated a milestone - banners with the “250 - America 1776–2026” logo highlighted the upcoming 250th anniversary of U.S. independence.
A unique attraction that drew passersby like a magnet was a large-scale Predator sculpture - the character from the cult movie - constructed entirely from scrap metal parts: gears, screws, chains, and machine fragments. The several-meter-tall figure stood in one of the aisles between halls, wielding its signature weapon. It was undoubtedly one of the more unexpected trade show exhibits.
IWA - Outdoor, Knives, and EDC
The section dedicated to outdoor sports and products for hunters and civilian users had a somewhat calmer pace, but it was no less interesting for industry observers.
At the Rockstead brand booth - a Japanese manufacturer regarded as setting one of the highest standards in the premium knife segment. Both displayed models featured the brand’s characteristic mirror-polished blades made of ZDP-189 or HAP40 steel, with attention to every detail - from the engraved koi carp motif on the handle to perfect balance. These are knives for collectors and those who view EDC as an expression of craftsmanship rather than merely a tool.
Also worth noting was the display by Dulotec - a manufacturer of flashlights and outdoor tools. In addition to their flagship C9 Dominator flashlight, the booth featured the Karma XL folding knife and the Camper tool set. The brand consistently builds its reputation around equipment for any conditions - from police to survival use.
Summary
IWA and Enforce Tac today represent two faces of the same industry - on one side the civilian, collector, and outdoor market, and on the other advanced technology for the defense sector and uniformed services. The boundary between them is becoming increasingly blurred each year - the same materials, the same engineering solutions, different applications. Nuremberg 2026 showed that innovation in this industry is thriving, and the scale of the presented solutions - from armored Toyotas to airless tires and integrated combat systems - confirms that these trade shows continue to be the place where industry trends become reality.
